Building a bankroll

I have did plenty of reloads in poker and I am trying to build a solid bankroll. Do you think you should try and make a semi large deposit and go for a one time only tournament? Or enter small tournaments and hope to hit a few as you go? How does this weigh out compared to playing in a live game and would you suggest I start out there and work my way up?

maybe u should go for freerolls and try to build a bankroll like that or theres plenty of bonus and stuff when u deposit so this is good if u dont want to spent too much time to get some change...so i think these 2 are the best choice for me...and sorry for my english its not so good lol good luck bud

If u want to make a deposit by all means go for a good one and then try some little sngs and little tournaments but i feel that with a good bankroll management you will fair better in playing cash tables as long as you dont play stupid... keep it tight and play the decent catrds and watch out for the player who wants to put his money in the potall the time and take advantage of that gluck with the bankroll

I also would say that cashgames will definately help you lot more to have a steady growing bankroll.. As long as you watch your BR-Managemant and maybe try some multitabling, you should be getting a better chance than with only playing MTT'S..

And theres a simple explanation for it, too..

In MTT's theres definately more LUCK involved, because of the rising blinds/antes.. You just have to win some coinflip situations and so on.. And only ONE player WONT LOOSE ALL OF HIS CHIPS (The winner..)

In Cashgames, you can look for a level that you feel comfortable playing at.. And stick to it with good BR-Management unless you beat it and climb one level up!
Cashgames are the games when talked about "poker is a longterm game"! Thats where u can use your "edge" on the fish at your tables, and so on..
And thats where all the percentages for winning/loosing a hand that u can find all over the net/ in books and so on, will show up IN THE LONG RUN !

So, stick to cashgames and here and there, join a MTT and try it

How long have you been playing? What success or failures have you had? How good are you is what i am asking? These are rhetorical questions.

I played exclusively fr. until i was winning regularly, if i had deposited any money until i was a profitable player i would have lost it.

I wrote a thread about how i got intrested in poker and how i developed from a total novice, i have never deposited but have $800 after 18 months.

My advice:

20 Buy Ins For Ring Games
30 Buy Ins For SnG's
40 Buy Ins For Multi Tables SnG's
50 Buy Ins For Multi Table Tournaments

i had a lot of success by buying into the small tournaments like $10 freezouts with only around 60 players..these kind of tournaments tend to be early in the morning or late at night like around midnight or 1:00 a.m.

No matter what you do, trying one shot is never the way to go if you want to stay in action. Personally, I'd tell you to play cash games, but I'm a cash game player. If tournaments are your thing, by all means beat em up. But really, there's no need to throw all your money at one tourny or cash table for that matter. Spreading out your money helps reduce variance, and putting all your money on one table or one tourny is absolutely the highest variance possible.

So spread it out, and build it up.
