| breaking through a bad run I am starting (hopefully) to come out of a weeklong bad run which has taken me down more than 6 BIs. (I single table and am generally not very aggressive so a 6 BI downswing is as bad as it usually gets for me) I had a run during which I lost six straight preflop shoves in which I had the large PP over a smaller PP, including losing with KK 3x (vs. JJ, QQ, and 99) and AA once (vs. 88). The streak made me scared and I was feeling like I was behind whenever I bet and got called. And I started getting frustrated and bad luck started turning into terrible play. After I lost two stacks by calling all in raises with top pair. I finally took a break. The mental break rejuvenated me and I finally am reapproaching the game without a loser's mentality. Play aggressively but be able to lay down a decent hand when necessary. |
