| Big LayDown logic Small table to start, we 3 are ITM; Everyone here has shown they know how to be aggressive; PokerStars Game #21041340718: Tournament #112578983, $5.00+$0.50 Hold'em No Limit - Level VI (100/200) - 2008/10/08 21:22:08 ET Table '112578983 1' 9-max Seat #2 is the button Seat 1: capecodkillr (4016 in chips) This is Mr. GooffyFooffy Seat 2: dj13 (4809 in chips) Seat 7: klitkat (6175 in chips) klitkat: posts small blind 100 capecodkillr: posts big blind 200 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to dj13 [Kd Kc] dj13: calls 200 Yes I could have/should have raised, but in this situation a slow play seemed better, with a great opportunity to do some serious damage. klitkat: calls 100 capecodkillr: checks *** FLOP *** [Jc Jd Ac] klitkat: bets 200 capecodkillr: raises 200 to 400 dj13: folds very bad flop for me, I pay attention to my gut feeling here that capecod has either of those cards and I am dead. klitkat: calls 200 *** TURN *** [Jc Jd Ac] 6♣ klitkat: bets 600 capecodkillr: raises 600 to 1200 klitkat: raises 4375 to 5575 and is all-in capecodkillr: calls 2216 and is all-in Uncalled bet (2159) returned to klitkat *** RIVER *** [Jc Jd Ac 6c] 5♦ *** SHOW DOWN *** klitkat: shows [Tc 7c] (a flush, Ace high) capecodkillr: shows [4d Js] (three of a kind, Jacks) klitkat collected 8232 from pot klitkat said, "gg" *** SUMMARY *** Total pot 8232 | Rake 0 Board [Jc Jd Ac 6c 5d] Seat 1: capecodkillr (big blind) showed [4d Js] and lost with three of a kind, Jacks Seat 2: dj13 (button) folded on the Flop Seat 7: klitkat (small blind) showed [Tc 7c] and won (8232) with a flush, Ace high Incidentally, I went on to win this. Moral of this story is that you must consider things situationally. Yes a case could be made that I could have taken this hand down preflop. And its not totally out of the realm of possibilty that BBB could have called me even had I shoved PF. Capecod is mostly new to these games and doesn't yet have enough hands to have much of a feel for us and our games, like wise we don't know much about him. So in this particular case it wasn't all that hard to muck my K's. |

| I agree that the laydown here is a good textbook case. But I am always surprised when many of my opponents will not lay the hand down. Now I'm not 100% sure that capecod has either the ace or jack on the flop. Could be aggresively pushing a draw as well. I "might" have called if my gut told me he pushed with draws as 400 there still leaves me plenty of outs to see the turn and have a healthy stack. But I would never push back there. And the laydown would have been crystal clear on the turn. As additional note I would suggest that capecod overplayed his set on the turn. Unless you believe that klitkat is betting with fluff on the turn, your jacks are seriously beat. Few people are willing to call the reraise on the flop and bet the turn without having the set at least outkicked (vs 4). My guess would have been flush or even a lucky boat (j-6). Nice play by you. I think cape should slow down on the turn and just call the bet to evaluate the river. But thats me. |

| Perhaps my statement that we all had shown we know how to be aggressive was a wee bit tame. Cape cod is new to us, but came out swinging. Klitkat (BBB) is a know LAG. I should also add that somewhere post flop, I could feel that this hand was gonna get really really nasty, and my KK was doomed by that flop. This was a player read more than anything else. Sweet as KK is, this laydown wasn't tuff. |
