| Yes. In fixed limit games, the betting limit for early rounds doubles in late rounds. So, for example, in Limit Hold'Em, the betting limit for the pre-flop and flop rounds is the original big blind. For the turn and river, the betting limit doubles to twice the "early" limit. In most of your drawing games, the pot size in a multi-way hand gets so big relative to the original blind that anyone in the hand is priced in to call the hand down. Doubling the bet size in later rounds introduces a strategic element unto those later betting rounds. BD |

Good luck with that. I started out playing limit and I enjoy it but I think the variance is acutally larger in limit games. As an earlier poster said, many times due to pot size people are priced in to call down to the river and hit their suckout river card. Since your bet size is fixed you can't force them to make a bad call. On the other hand you won't get stacked in a single hand so there is that. One more thiing, if you are going to play limit do yourself a favour and read Ed Miller's book on Small Stakes Hold'em. He does a wonderful job of teaching limit and explaining a lot of really important poker concepts. |
