Better to induce bluff or better to shove and win small pot?

Recently, I've been faced with morons who kept sucking out constantly one after another. Lot of morons shove with gutshot draws and somehow hit it. Worse thing is, they believe that they made right plays. I'll lay out what happened. My roommate tells me I'm just having bad run while his friends tell me to shove and don't even give villain a chance to shove and make them fold, take down small pot. Here are few ridiculous hands I've faced.

Assuming my opponent makes continuation bet like over 50% of the time in raised pot and their vpip, aggression is like 40-50% as well. I KNOW my opponent will bet out on the flop. So here's the case

I have QJs. I raised, villain calls. Flop comes out like Q 9 T. I intentionally check even though texture of the board is dangerous. Reason is because I induce a bluff. Pot size is like 500. Villain shoves all-in for 1500 of his chips. I instantly call. He rolls over K-5 offsuit. Turn comes up J. I lose.

Another case was i have pocket 5s. Flop comes out 5 A J. I intentionally check again. Pot size is like 500 like before. Opponent shoves all-in for 1500. I instant call. He rolls over KT. Catches Queen on the river.....

This might seem like egocentric view but I believe I made right plays and played perfectly but got unlucky. My roommate also thinks I made right plays and got unlucky and I'm just running bad. But what his friends say seem very ridiculous. His friends tell me I made a mistake and should've shoved on the flop and win 500 so they wont' be able to call and don't give them an option to have fold equity. I honestly do not agree with them and don't bother taking their advices because they suck at poker, I win more than them when we roll to casino together. But there are many cardschat members who have more experience than me in poker and I figured it's better to ask this forum. From this point, I will exclude my egocentric view of my inducing play being right and openly listen to real advices from experienced players. Better to induce a bluff or better to shove and take down a small pot when faced with a person who's most likely going to bet on or shove on the flop?

Seems like your playing fine and just running bad. Don't you want people to put their chips in when they are about a 10% or less chance to win? Both situations you are an overwhelming favorite, so why would you want to shove to scare them out? In the short term some bad beats can hurt you, but you should be getting your money in when you an edge to be a winner over time.

Well based on your initial question, you probably are on a bad run but I think you need to rethink the strategy.
If you think they are going to bluff make them pay for it.
Don't check, don't necessarily push all in either.
Make a bet big enough to make them pause.
If they go over the top on you, you can still get away from it.

Well, if you flop a set, you really want some action. If you're getting people to bet into you, then I'd say you've got exactly what you want. If the probability gods are against you at the moment, just keep doing what you're doing until things turn around.

it definetly depend on how ahead you are. i feel the same way (fish wins my pot) so i cant help from pushing if i think i have the hand. try to throw in a bluff here and there to keep them guessing

you made the right play in my opinion, only problem is you've had some bad beats. it happens a lot when you play with fish

There really is no question that that outcome is ideal in both cases. Getting it in as a favorite is awesome. If you are in tourneys then there is a possibility you don't want to be getting it in in these spots given enough mitigating details, but if the oppoenents are that weak every time, screw it get it in there. Expected outcome is all that matters. You expect a huge return on these hands, sometimes you take it like you're in prison, so it goes...

Do yourself a favor and learn to cbet when you hit as well as when you don't. Your opponents are idiots but any decent player is going to start putting pressure on you when you cbet the flop and give you no action when you don't. When you flop TP bet. When you flop a set for the love of God bet. When you flop air, bet most of the time. When you flop draws bet. I think I see a theme here. When the flop misses your opponents preflop range, say it with me, BET.

As for the hands posted, you know they are just bad beats, but again your opponents are idiots and you could have played the hands better.

None of the above arguements for betting these flops is to get your opponents to fold so they don't draw out on you btw. Your roommate's friends are idiots too btw.

As it turns out, he could not have possibly played the hands any better if he was virtually certain of things going as they did. He got all of his oppoenents money in while they were at a huge disadvantage. I agree that cbetting is king, but some people are just that predictable and, when that is the case, you can let them rape themselves. The only improvement would be to have gotten it on after the opponent whiffed the turn as well, making their odds worse.
