Sooo i dont know if im in the right place, but ive installed HEM, and PostgreSQL 8.3. I have almost no idea how to work these, ive fiddled around and read a few tutorials... But i cant get them to work properly somehow. Im going to be making a substantial deposit into FTP hoping to start a bankroll, and would like to get all this working before i start.

When ive got HEM running in the backround does it automatically record all my hands?... Also when i open HEM i try and import new information and it cant find anything, so im guessing there is something im doing wrong. Say you had a BR of $200-400 what would be the correct limits to play?

Any other information i will need to know before i start?

if you had a bankroll of about 300 dollars, and your playing limit games, it
is suggested that you play the tables in which you have a bankroll of 300
times the bet... so if you were to be playing a 1-2 dollar table, you should
have a bankroll of 600. Since you have 300 in this case, you should go to
the 50 c - 1 dollar limits. Now if your gonna play nolimit, well some people
suggest you to play with 25 max buyins of the table you wish to enter.
Meaning that if you have 300 dollars, the table you enter should have at
most a max buyin of 12 dollars. Hope i helped.

re: The beginning poker

Aaron, just go in at the lowest limits and gain some experience. So try 2/4c. With that BR i'd say you could play 20nl if you were experienced. But it's best setting urself targets. Play 10,000 at 2/4c and buy in for the max amount. If your winning at 10bb/100 then move upto 10nl with ur winnings. No offence, if your inexperience u'd get crushed at 20nl and even 10nl.

The standard is improving and even the standard at 2/4c which i play is reasonable the majority of time. I'd watch some video's by chuckt's and read his FR post to start u off. To set up mine - i used options, configure auto import folders and it seemed to work. I tried a different import way and i uploaded files but i couldn't get the HUD to work. Jesus, if u need any help start off send me a pm. I could help upto around 10nl. But seriously, if ur starting off just forget about the 10nl, 20nl in my opinion.

I'm quite solid and have played a good number of hands and would probably struggle at 20nl.

As for the limits you should be playing at, here is a good table to follow from a previous post of mine.

Blinds Bankroll
1c/2c $50
2c/4c $100
5c/10c $200
10c/20c $400
25c/50c $1,000
$0.5/$1 $2,000
$1/$2 $4,000
$2/$4 $8,000
$5/$10 $20,000
$10$/20 $40,000
$25/$50 $100,000
$50/$100 $200,000

And if the program isn't importing your hands like it should, you might want to make sure that the poker site that you are playing on is supported by the program, and if it is then I would go to the help forums and figure out what is wrong.
