Bankroll question

Hi, first of all i will give you my stats so far. I've being playing poker for about 2 or 3 months so far. In the last month i was able to make my $50 bankroll into $200. I played 100 tournaments so far (mostly sitngos).

I started on $1 and then i switched to $2 on full tilt.

Here's my question: Can i start playing the $5 sitngos on full tilt with this $200 bankroll or it's too risky?

Well obviously the more buy ins you have the less risk to your bankroll assuming your a winning player. This is always a great conundrum for a poker player, the thought of moving up with x amount of buy ins. 40 buy ins is more than enough cushion imo for these stake sng's. So yeah go for it. If you go on a d/swong of say 5-10 buy ins then drop back down and build it up again.

I am in the same boat as you here, wondering if i should increase my buy-in for a better pay out. I like jagsti idea, try a few and if nothing good happens I'll drop back down.

beause as i see ya very good and why not takin a small risk when ya can winning much?

Well i'm not very good yet, i just started playing, but on the other hand i can say that so far i am a winning player.

Does anybody here played a at this level of sitngo on full tilt? I want to know if there's much diference between this 2 levels.

The rake is actually slightly better as well at the $5.50 SnGs (10%) as opposed to the $2.25s (12.5%). Not as big a jump as going from the $1.25 to $2.25 but it is a slight factor. As long as you're willing to move down if you start losing I'd say 40 BI should be enough.

Nice graph! Just try the 5 dollar sit 'n go's and set a limit for yourself when to move down if it doesn't work out. You're doing well!

That is way to risky. Never risk more than 1% of your bankroll on a ring game or tourney.

I usually calculate the maximum buy-in level for SNG's as 2 % of my bank roll, which means that I can play the same tournament at least 50 times. In your case, you need about $ 250 if it should fit in this range. My advice is that you create your own "formula", and most importantly, that you keep to it. Because the strength from knowing pot odds and long-run profitable hands dimnishes if one varies the buy-in levels too much. One's bank roll also needs to be large enough to survive a couple of bad tournaments and bad beat streaks.

well 40 buy-in for sng's and 20 buy-in for cash games are standart bankroll management rules. And you should be fine sticking to that.

Though may i add that from your graph (that two big money jumps) it's quite certain that you really are not doing what you say you'r doin. I would strongly suggest not to take shots before you have a comfortable br at that limit. Varience is very ugly and will hit when you least expect it.

Generally between 30-40 buy-ins is sufficient for SnGs, so it should be no problem to move up. As previous posters have said it is important to know when to move back down and recover your bankroll.

keep this key role.

the worst for a poker player is the fear to lose money.
what i did was set targets.

after i reach $500 i made a withdraw of half.
after that i reach the next level:1000$ and made a 2nd withdraw (50%)

now im playing to reach $2000 and i dont care if its is $1, 10$ or $20 buyin, not my money.

You're right about pointing that there are two big jumps in the graph, but they both have explanation.

The first one that is the largest as well is from a 4th place on the ferguson tournament on full tilt ( $1 buy in = $65 cash out).

In the other jump you're maybe right, after i won those $65 on the ferguson my bankroll went up to $170 so i decided to take a shot playing $5 sitngos. I did very well: 3 tournaments, 2 first places.

Right after that i came here and wrote this thread because i wanted to know if i can continue to play sitngos at that level.

Mainly because most of it doesn't make a lot of sense. Withdrawing money from your roll is fine. But in the initial stages of building a bankroll, your looking at just that. Building it up to a level that takes you up the limits, to a sustainable limit were withdrawing regularly has little effect on your overall bankroll.

If you keep withdrawing 50% of your roll at every goal, then your likely to make really slow progress.

to risky u need at least 300-400 to play them...lose a few of them and then your down to 100 dollars
