bankroll management I have a br of $5000. and am going to start playing live tourneys with a $30 to $60 by in. My question is what percentage of the money I win should go to building my bankroll? My plan is to play 2 or 3 tournys a day. the first thing any money won does is pay back the buyins for the day. Is there a formula for the percentage of whats left? Any thoughts or advice on this would be gratefully aprpeciated thanks Buzz45

I think it's basically a personal matter that can depend on various factors. Personally, I don't plan regular withdrawals. I don't need to since I handle my living expenses outside / without my roll. I do withdraw, but basically only for special expenses or when my roll has grown larger than I want it to be.

There is a well known system for cashouts based on volume of play rather than results. A search of 'Jennifear cashout system' should provide a link to Jennifear's original blog and many related pages (I believe the BRM side of it is based on Fox's BRM model) Essentially you will pay yourself a small percentage of buy-in to play each game, in the original blog the rates are 3% of buy-in for STT/SnG, 4% for 18 man game, 5% for 45 man ... etc. There are special provisions for some circumstances such as very large buy-ins or winnings from taking a shot, and many of the related articles are variations on this pattern

re: bankroll management poker it depends how seriously you wanna treat poker. if you wanna take poker seriously, personally i would put back 100% of winnings into poker bankroll, and just spend as little as possible in day to day life. set yourself targets for when you can withdraw some and treat yourself when you reach the targets.
