| I actually play limit at my local casino and the only problem I think is it is hard to bluff because or the limit aspect. Therefore i don't really play unless i know I have the hand, but yes I have came home with money in my pocket. |

| I also play Limit Hold'em at my local casino and most of the time when playing ring games online. My tournaments, both online and at my casino are No Limit, of course. Yes, there is money to be made playing Limit, particularly low stakes Limit. The reason is that your poker profit comes from your opponents making more mistakes than you do. And, basic poker mistakes are rampant at low stakes Limit tables. Most players play too many hands and go too far with them...that makes them ripe for picking. But, be forewarned, you must learn to deal with bad beats! Low stakes Limit is often called "No Fold'em Hold'em!" for a reason...very few people fold. It's not unusual for 6-9 people to see the flop and 3 go all the way to the River. Once someone calls pre-flop, if they get any piece of the flop they are usually getting the right pot-odds to continue calling...even calling a Turn bet to hit their gut-shot. That means that bluffing seldom works and you usually need to show a good hand to take down the pot. So, no matter how mathematically correct you play, bad beats will happen...a lot on some days! And, you will continually ask yourself, "How could anyone call pre-flop with THAT hand!" After playing primarily Limit for a year, I have learned that the best way to ATTEMPT (it's not always successful!) to minimize the "donkey" effect is with well timed raises and reraises. If the game at your local casino has the feel of a home game, with everyone there to have a good time, your raises and reraises may not be too welcomed. But, if you want to have a shot at showing a profit, you need to move the donkeys aside. That's why I usually prefer to play against loose, passive opponents, of which there are a lot at low stakes Limit. They make the most mistakes and seldom raise pre-flop, but will often call a pre-flop raise, and seldom reraise post-flop. Anyone playing serious low stakes Limit should read "Small Stakes Hold 'em: Winning Big with Expert Play" by Ed Miller, David Sklansky, and Mason Malmuth. It's the best book I have ever read on Limit. By the way, just because you know how to play No Limit, don't think that everything applies to Limit. Limit and No Limit are completely different animals, just as tournament No Limit and cash game No Limit are completely different. Last edited by Ranger390 : 1st September 2008 at 4:49 PM. | i dont enjoy playing limit holdem... the only good thing is that you dont take so many risks of your bankroll when you were playing at the tables... however there are lot of callers in most of hands and chances of bleffing are minimun... this game didnt have lot of strategy.. you have to be patient and very luck thats it.... |

| Limit is a great way to play solid poker while minimizing your risks. Proffitable, of course as long as you play well but as mentioned before the grind is much longer to make decent money. Omaha hi/lo is another game you might consider, being both a limit game and having split hi and lo pots the chance for big losses are greatly reduced. |

True, but the difference between cash game No Limit strategy and tourney No Limit strategy is tiny compared to the difference between any Limit game and a NL game. I would use the analogy that NL tournament and cash game are like Obama and Clinton, and Limit is like McCain. The differences in tourney/cash game seem big at the time but compared to other games they really aren't. |

| re: Anybody play Limit holdem>? poker I tried limit and became extremely frustrated. The game seem long for some reason to me. I don't think it was the blind structure, or the pace of play. It just seemed we were going around and around and not getting anywhere. |

As for Limit Hold 'Em, Barry Greenstein says in his book that it's an enjoyable game if you like to watch paint dry. But it was all that was spread where he lived at the time, so he learned it. It's just a different game with a much greater emphasis on hand selection. G |

| I found that you've really have to pay attention to the people who 3 and 4 bet suited connectors into a large field, so they can build up the correct pot odds to allow them to call all the way to the river. Big pairs just don't do as well when you get 6 players to the flop every hand. Re-raising and narrowing the field become really important. If you can't force people out with raises, then look to play drawing hands cheap and then ram it when you hit the flop hard. |

| Yeah. Forget playing a lot of marginal hands, you'll just be donating your money. There's no way to win a monster pot unless you hit a slim draw on the river against a big field trying to raise you out. Otherwise you've just got to turn your mind off at the lower limits and forget any creative plays you might be tempted to make. This used to drive me crazy too. |

| Limit poker is very different from NL. You can't push someone off a marginal hand, and you will have to show down a lot more. On the other hand, it is a lot easier to calculate pot-odds, since you have a good idea of how much the turn and river are going to cost you if you are chasing. |
