advice on what hands and in what position to shove with if your short stacked

Hi all and let me say that your'e advice is invaluable...My question is this if you have ten BB or less then it's pretty much all in time, now I have read that this should be with any pair, or face cards in early position so I had a small pair the other night in early pos'n and got called and beat i've been told off for this on here but it would help if I had some chart or the like to help.. I think first in vigourish is the key but should you fold pairs in early if they are 22-77. I have also heard that ace rag should only be shoved in late pos'n because of the chance of being dominated, I can see this, but my reading has also guided me to the idea that if you have pp88 then you stand around an 78-80% chance of having the best hand pre-flop, presumably this would go down by around ten percent per pair i.e. pp77's would have around 70% chance of being ahead pre flop, this seems like pretty good odds to me and a case for shoving in early position even if you get called by one player with ace-king your'e still a pre-flop favourite. U cannot play small pairs any other way when u are short stacked.

But u have to consider the moment of the game. Near the bubble it is a little different and saddly most of us find ourselves in this situation a lot of times. Me myself when in the bubble , if i do not get lucky i ussualy get out

Yours hand are tied at 10BBs. Like Swingro says.. shove unless it is the bubble and you can try to hang on. Another factor to take is what kind of players are ahead of you. If the BB or the SB is a loose player, shoving with an Ax may not be bad idea as he/she might call with Kx-JT sort of hands.

Also, being short stack take into consideration that you'll probably get called.
That means that unless you have no choice, wait for a decent enough hand.
that said, I think that any ace is good in this position and any pair is good here.

I don't think there's any "chart" anyone can give you to tell you what hands to shove with when you are short stacked. The reality is, you can't be too selective in that situation, because if you try to wait for a certain range of hands, you're going to find yourself blinded out pretty quickly.

As someone else, stated, a lot depends on the players at the table, but for the most part, that short, it's push or fold, and not only would I push with small pairs (no brainer IMO), but I'd push with any ace, most face cards, and maybe even suited connectors. Like I said, that short, you just don't have much of a choice.

Thanks guys I think in future I might just wait one more round shoving in that position well.. you have a long way to go round but at 6BB's you do have little option

For me and my experience being short stacked (which seems to be often), once I am in the position where all I have left is all in move I start looking for either the right situation like if there are a lot of callers and I have something I consider playable and since there are a lot of callers I could get a big return I may shove at that point, otherwise I am definetly playing any pair and strong cards but I also found that "gut feeling" hands are probably just as good. Take for example my last short stack experience I got A3 suited, I got the gut feeling and then decided to fold and two 3s flopped and the A hit the river and I would have been way up. So the very next hand I get AQ off and shove and get two callers one has A8 the other has 10J and guess what, A flopps and 8 rivers so I'm out, so which hand do you play? I am going with any gut feeling from now on!
