advice or tips in this scenario that no doubt happens with everyone

ok so lets say you have a,k, a,q or whatever else you feel worthy of a raise and to cut down the people still in the pot.. flop comes and you miss it entirely or what?

Way I see it is this if your the one that initially raised then had to check the flop you are coming off as kinda weak? and I've noticed more often than not someone will bet putting you on the spot should I call or fold?

Then lets say you did a continuation bet and you missed the turn even then waht?

I dunno this is a major flaw in my game as I don't really know what to do I get lucky and people fold etc thats great but its not fool proof and I have been caught out ast least 40% of the time.. I just would wanna know how you guys would handle the scenario..

sorry is this comes off as a bit noobish.. Only reason I'm asking at low limits its really hard as basicly alot of the time before the final table theres always someone that calls wildly with most of the time a hand that shouldn't even be called with a 4BB+ etc

There is no simple answer to this.

You want to c-bet.. but at the same time the board needs to be one which your c-bet carries some weight. Ask yourself would TT fold here to a single bet? Yes.. c-bet, no check in position.

If you decide to c-bet, and get called.. what does this mean?

Does your opponent float flops in the hope you give up on the turn.. if he does he may have nothing.

Does he only call with a made hand .. if so you are now behind and if the turn dosent help then why bet more?

How big a pot does you opponent build with his weak hands? if the turn improves you to top pair, will he continue to bet without 2-pair+? if so .. dont bet!

Does he routinely bluff the river.. if so check it and call any bet... if not will you put in a blocking bet or a check?

etc etc etc

There is no simple answer.

Start posting hands in the Hand Analysis section (its the one marked Hand Analysis Section on the main page ) and people can critique individual hands.. eventually you will figure it out.

the answer for today may be different tomorrow , even with same players and same hands. (mike caro's loose wiring therory) but if you are winning 60% of your c-bets thats good right?

God thats an open question, Depends on Stack size, if it's cash or a tourney, your table imagine, list could go on......

Will depends on position and if somebody has raised before you but i would raise preflop maybe 4-6 x BB. Then if you miss test the waters like 1/4 to 2/3 of the pot somebody calls take it easy after that!

Other then that fold!!!

mostly, but not enough for anyone to catch me on this, I like to make a c-bet if I've raised in early pos.
If I raised late and missed, I really like to see what the player ahead of me does first. If he bets and is loose, I'll raise some and fold some. If he checks and is tight, I might bet or just check.
In a multi-way pot, again I'll c-bet in early pos. to see where I'm at and in late pos., I'll usually check to see free card.

I guess everyone's trying to say it situational.. i'll throw in some other factors(and repeat as well):

1) table image - are you tight.. have you been C-betting every single time and they've caught on to that fact?
2) villian's image.. is he trapping you by checking to you? Loose? Could it be possible he limped early with a low pair,... WHAT do you put him on?
3) the texture of the board.. I like to C-bet if cards are lower than 7-9 usually...
4) your position...

There's no one set answer in this.. really depends on all these factors and more..

When I first started playing I played extremely tight and passive. If I missed the flop I'd check even when I had position, and get out of the hand. That meant I had a hard time building a stack I was missing a major part of the game. After reading Harrington on Hold Em I understood the game alot better concerning continuation bets and probe bets. Sometimes you'll have the best hand after the flop, sometimes you won't. Sometimes you'll bet out and everyone will fold to you. Sometimes they'll call you all the way down the river with nothing. Sometimes they'll actually be holding the best hand. You just gotta figure it out.

What is the justification for leading out for 4-6X rather than a smaller amount?

And why such a large spread for your CB? There's quite a difference between 1/4 and 2/3 pot.
