Ace rags on the bubble

Hi everyone,

I am new at poker. I play a SnG LH 5.50 dollars at full tilt poker. I have played 5 times with 3 money finishes. My question is how should I play Ax suited/unsuited on the bubble. I actually manage to build a chiplead but I always seem to donk it away on the bubble. I always seem to lose on Ax causing me to fold them but I always feel like I loose value then. Should I just call with Ax and raise in late position? Should I just let the small blinds fight eachother and only play monsters when I have the chiplead on the bubble?

If you are in the chip lead at the bubble then you will want to raise more against the mid stacks as they will be more likely to fold to pressure to stay in whereas the short stacks will be in a push/fold mode.

Playing Ax in late position can be profitable you just have to watch who is in the hand already and how likely they are to play it back at you.

Its hard to make a generic reply here, although Shady made some very good points. To answer your question as to how to play Ax on the bubble, my answer would be.....it depends. IMO calling on the bubble is almost always a mistake, only if it is only you (SB) and the BB is LAG, and you have AA-QQ you may want to call to induce an all in RR from him, but if you play A rag, it will depend on so many things, but NEVER call a raise with it. Fold or push, and that also depends. Your reads on the table will dictate a lot of how you play. Like SV said, pushing first in late position can be profitable, but you must know your opponents.

By the time you reach the bubble in a sng even a $5 sng you should have a read on the other guys at the table

as shady said the SS will be in push/fold mode so dont go against these guys unless you have a big chiplead or a very good A

the midstacks will be just trying to hold on to their stacks so will only raise with the goods so you may be able to make a few steals in late position but in the end one of the others will end up losing patience and making a move against another if so just let them fight it out get ITM and go for the win

Lol. Depends is it AK,AQ or worse, depends on stack sizes and blinds.

I think OP plays fixed limit. This changes things too.
