Aces
ACE + anything is just another card preflop, a shot in the dark, a chance or a guessing game at that point.
What I mean is Ive seen Aces lose without seeing the flop many times. The only time Its is an advantage is if you end hand with Ace high. We all know the ranking order of cards but preflop any card has chance of being in hand. Advantage of Ace greater closer to river. Simple and logical but some people play Ace + with wreckless abandon in Texas holdem freerolls. |

PF I can handle action if Im holding AK, AQ, anything less than that I start to consider I might be dominated by those two.
AJ and AT are overrated in my opinion Last edited by KerouacsDog : 01-07-2008 at 9:18 AM. Reason: amended sentence |

There's your answer. If you want to play by the book then anything under A10, if you want to win then use Pantin's advice.

ace rags get people into trouble at the start of tournaments. There isn't a need to play them at the early stages because of the risk of being outkicked. They are good to play from the blinds or the button for a limp but don't risk too much if an ace flops.

I personally dont like ace crap, just because to me, its almost like playing with just one card, the ace.... lets say you have A4, if a four hits the flop, youve got bottom pair... even if an ace hits, you got bottom kicker most likely... of course, if your only against like 2 or 3 other people then its different

As many others said - Depends on the the situation, players, how u play it, etc.
But in general and imo - Ace crap is not crap if you can limp in and hit. I usually consider AJ the breaking point - But even with AJ I wouldn't go crazy at preflop (more tham 3X BB). Been donked too many times raising on AJ just to see someone catch a straight with 6,8 or the like. |

I have lost with A crat so many time. out kicked. that I don't play anything lower that AJ unless suited or in BB. I Will play them when there only a few players on the table and in late position.

It depends
It depends on the type of table you are playing. If i am at a pretty tight table i will raise with any ace because having an ace lessons your chance of running into a hand with another ace. plus they are an easy fold to a reraise and if they are suited good semi-bluffing hands. If i play a rag ace i prefer A-2 through A-5 because of the odds of making the wheel. i hat A-6 through A-9 because they get you into trouble unless i am in position i usually just fold these hands.

I'd say AQ is a quality hand and AJ is probably the cut-off.. Its still a decent hand but be cautious because you could be beat a lot of times even if Ace hits the flop.. All the other hands you play depending on the situation.. Every hand can be played at the right moment.

For me A 10 unsuited is the cut-off...anything less goes in the muck, unless the table is really passive, the A is suited, and I'm on the button or in the blinds. Even A 10 is marginal, as it can be easily dominated. Ace rag is a great hand if you like to put yourself in trouble situations, like being dominated, and losing to a higher kicker. Fold Ace rag ...another hand will be along in a couple of minutes!
