| 6 handed vs 9 handed cash games? I was just wondering if there was any reason to specifically choose one or the other? I just started getting my feet wet in cash games. Is 9 handed better for beginners? |

| of course not , if you are beginner you should play 6 handed. beginners like to play with trash hands and as you will understand to play trash hands in 9 handed you will get broke in seconds(i dont think its good strategy in 6 handed also but its better in 6 handed than in 9 handed ) |

it depends what suits you more. if you are a super tight player..9 handed would be more your style..in 6 handed you have to open your hand ranges up in order to keep up with the blinds since they obviously come around quicker.... beginners dont play trash hands...donks do lol |

| +1 on Patty's response above. Try both out and see what suits you. A lot of serious players end up moving from FR (full ring, i.e. 9handed) to 6max - don't make the mistake of thinking that the wider range of hands being played in 6max is only because it's filled with beginners, you'll be in for a nasty surprise if you do. Oh, and many donks can and do have years of experience... You'll find them in both FR and 6max. |

| re: 6 handed vs 9 handed cash games? poker I like 6-max; at the micro stakes in LHE, UltimateBet often only has 6-max tables open/available. From what I have learned so far, they say that 6-max is good practise for full ring for those times when numerous people fold to you or get out of the pot. Personally, I like both - but 6-max is faster-paced. YMMV. |

| 6-Max you seam to get better hands 9-full you have to play super tight I suck in 9-full, but i have to play them for MTTs, SNGs Hummm come to think of it, AK might be beat less at a 9 player table, then a 6-max. You will lol when you shove all-in, on pocket Qs on a 9 player table, get called with JK, AK |

| My two cents. The big difference between the two games is that you're paying blinds more often in 6-max. This is offset by the fact that you are in position more often, which means you can play more pots. So there is more action in 6-max. 6-max tends to be a lot faster, and has a lot more action. And action is where you learn the game. It's sort of a concentrated version of poker. It's like they boil off the 1/3 of the 9-player table that are in the late "should only play great hand" seats. You fold a lot more in full ring, which is a bit tedious. People compensate for the slower paced 9-player games by multi-tabling. I'd also assume that with more players, there's a better chance of having more fish at the table (though at 6-max, you get to tangle with the fish more often, and with less competition). Basically, pick what you enjoy. Whichever you do play, table selection is vital. Look for tables where people are too active. I arrange them by the percentage of players that see the flop, and sit on the waiting lists for the loosest games. Basically, you want people who are willing to call you down when you have the best hand and chase when they have improper odds to do so. So while I prefer 6-max, if I see a juicy 9 player game I'll sit there instead. |

Most has already been mentioned regarding the differences.... 6-Max has alot more action. It attracts alot of aggro-action-spew-donks but has some good players in it too. Position is key in 6-Max, ie. 3-betting in pos. to isolate the fish, etc. etc. Postflop play skills are also essential. In FR at lower limits you'll find a ton of rocks but also a few loose calling stations too (if you're fortunate... table selection being key... and where you sit on the table too). FR tends to have alot of ShortStackers as well,.. looking to get it allin preflop if they can. |

| I prefer full ring for limit games hand down and usually with anything else except for when Ive got a big chip stack or I got a lot more coinage than the other people at a NLHE table and then I like to play 6-max and loosen my game up a little. |

I have been playing 6max tables, for some time.. But now i think i need to go to a 9 max table now, to help work on my MTT skills... Watch out for them sharks, at 6 Max tables. |

| im more of a full ring game guy now these days as im playin in the micro 6-max games (0.02/0.05 - 0.05/0.10) and i seem to b loosing my bankroll by making my raise/callin range alot more wider which is leavin me quite hard to hit, plsu these micro games are quite a nacker. But seem to b doin well at full ring if my hands dont get cracked. Like 4 example i had AQo n raised 4xBB and got a caller, missed flop n turn so i folded to sum1's limp/call then bettin on the flop n turn. The very nxt hand i got KQs and raised to 5xBB and made a flush, they guy made a set on the flop and managed to make a full house on the river which took my chips, but overall full ring games at NLHE seem to b alot more profitable bcos u rarley hit the board so u need to b patient. Cant b paitent in 6-max as aggression needs to come into play quite alot. Now im rambling lol. |

| Yeah I think 9 handed is the best, cause you can practice preflop hand selection and positional poker better IMO, in 6 handed or any short handed play the hand values go up so the play is faster, 9 handed is similar to many freeroll tournament structures so may be more natural for most player's |
