eChecks too convenient?

Do you find eChecks too good to be true?
I find that it is too easy to put money in your account this way.
Say if your on a bad run of cards and your on tilt, you submit an eCheck for whatever amount you're cleared for and lose it all but don't have enough in your bank account, your screwed.
If you happen to take first in a tourney and you don't have enough to cover the eCheck then IMO, PokerStars can withhold your winnings.
In short, just be sure you have enough in your bank account to cover the eCheck.

If you do that, you have bounced a check. Your bank will charge you an outrageous fee, PokerStars will be really pissed and lock your account, your wife will leave you and take the dog. If you can't pay, don't play.

Not that it has happened to me in any way, just thought I would voice my thoughts on this.

I think it's great that US players got a method that doesn't charge outrageous fees, or require cloak and dagger measures to use. BTW, Full Tilt Poker is testing an eCheck system right now, too. Go here:Full Tilt eChecks? for more details.

My only fear us that it won't last. Some bible thumping pinhead politician will figure out some way to f*ck it up, and it'll go the way of Neteller,Firepay, payTru, yadayada.

I love to gamble - but I never gamble with money I am not willing and able to lose.

I love the convenience of echeck - though fortunately I have only had to use it once and haven;t had to re-load since then.

Interesting poll, but not enough replies yet to really get a trend.

It does state "bad players". I think it could/would hurt 'bad players' since they are the ones likely to be making continual deposits, trying to play 'catch up'. It doesn't ask how it might affect you or me (unless you volunteer to be in that 'bad player' category ... )

It could be potentially dangerous for compulsive gamblers out there, but for a responsible adult who can set limits for themselves, it shouldn't be a problem. Like Debi said, don't spend money you can't afford to lose.

I haven't used eCheck (the SSN requirement threw me), but whenever I make a deposit, it's with that "extra" cash flow; i.e, the bills are paid, the cupboards stocked, etc. That's just part of being an adult.

Yeah.. PokerStars and Full Tilt have implemented "Responsible Gambling"

PokerStars has it so you can set a certain amount that you're allowed to deposit per week. After a certain amount of time, you can request to improve your limits you're allowed to deposit.

Both sites allow exclusion. Which means, you can make them block you from playing for a set time.

Both good ideas I believe..if you truly find yourself responsible and can bring yourself to do it.

I have it set so I can't deposit more than $300 a week on PokerStars.

the answer is yes, but here is why...

Any deposit method that is fast, convenient and safe is a danger for a player with the time and initiative necesary to blow their whole bank account. So it isnt the e-check method that is the danger, it is the player utilizing it. whether or not there are fees a player who feels compelled to put money in time after time, without getting a return is bound to continue that cycle. So i will vote yes to this poll.
