Cashing PokerStars cashout check

So, after 2 weeks since my initial inquiry into withdrawing from pokerstars I've received my paper check.

In the letter attached to the check Stars strongly advises that I not use a check cashing store with the check. Is this a formality in reflection of Black Friday or is there a good chance I wouldn't get my money unless I cashed it at a bank? Any experiences? There's a reason I didn't want the cash deposited directly into my bank account.

My check was sent from Canada, so that's cause for concern. Nothing else in the letter suggests I'd have any sort of problem otherwise. Not looking to waste my time driving around if a bank is my only option.

Does really using checks are that so unreliable? Well i just heard that Walmart will be expanding there services like cash check, so is this will be good or bad thing?
