Laliberte (French for "liberty") is how it's spelled.
He's a billionaire as Chuck said: Guy Laliberte, The World's Richest People - Forbes.com There was only 1 episode -- this is from next week's show. That is what prompted my question above burrito. |

There is no room for nice in poker. Take all the money. Why else play?
At least run it 2 or 3 times to reduce the variance, but don't just end the hand with both of them all-in and no Turn or River. I wrote a post on this, GSN's $500K High Stakes Poker - a little soft ,GSN's $500K High Stakes Poker - a little soft. I want to see blood on the felt! ![]() |

I didn't know it was okay to grave rob. Maybe I'd have started fewer new threads if I did...
Yeah weird video. I dunno though, it's his money, he can do what he wants with it. Maybe it was a French connection or something, whatever. |

It's not like he ended up making a loss anyway. He still got iirc 60k off Benyamine. Funny first when Guy suggested they just run it once, Benyamine looked like that belly of his was going to come out of his mouth.

Guy said in that episode that he had a premonition/bad feeling about the hand.
Even though he was a favorite, he was worried about losing. Not "worried" in what losing the money would mean, but worried about his "ego"? (dunno if that's the right term, but it's all I can think of at the moment). |

Guy is a new poker player (2 years) but has done quite well in his short time .He is coached by Isabell (No mercy) Mercier a great player from Canada.
Last fall he made a final table of a wpt event and finished 5th I think. He occasionally plays in some hi stakes poker games in Vegas and does well . Biggest plus for him .....he never plays with scared money and its a huge advantage to his game....Wish we could all play that way IMHO give him some well deserved respect. |

He said hed donate half his winnings at that table to charity. I think itd been better to win and give it to these kids than leave it for Benyamine. Then hedve been a really good guy.
I think it ruins the whole point of the game. If he wants to be mr billionaire nice guy to them, why play...just give them your money. |

Yeah that guy just want to entertain himself, he doesnt care at all about the money. Doyle Brunson on his blog a few days ago wrote that Guy bought 2 Bugati Veyron (the most expensive car on the planet 1.4million$ each)
And also he wins about 2 million every night because the circus... i mean while most of the other players where playing above their limits he was just gambling and having some fun. |

I agree, they should definitely drop the buyin for the next HSP, although I have heard rumours that the buyin might be increased to 1 million. That would be really boring, If they ever did get all the money in on the flop for 2 million they would run it like 10 times, lol. |
