LB Quarterly Championships

Im pleased to announce that it has been agreed & cleared with Mr Nick that starting from July the Leaderboard will now be running a Quarterly Championship.

1. Jan, Feb, Mar.
2. Apr, May, Jun.
3. July, Aug, Sept.
4. Oct, Nov, Dec.

Each of these quarters will score the games just as before and the players who are in the top 3 at the end of that quarter will win money prizes
1st. $50
2nd. $30
3rd. $20

And of course the bragging rights as that quarters champ.

All the usual matches played will continue to be counted along with any new games that qualify under current guidelines (regular playing and 9 or more players in the game)

The overall LB will continue to run with an aim to find the Player of the Year

Hope this meets with the forums approval and as many people join in the fun as possible.

You never know - it could be you

***Leaderboard updates will now be posted in this thread***

Thanks Ian and Nick for everything.

Sounds great, it'll keep the traffic at most of the CC games high.

Ian (and Nick), I think this is great. Thank you.

So now my questions...
1. So every quarter a new TLB will start from scratch to determine the quarterly winner? Will this continue to go on average pts due to the variety of availability of games and sites? And how many games to qualify quarterly?

2. So the current TLB will continue on to get a 2007 TLB champ? If so, when the 2008 TLB starts next year, could we also keep adding to the 2007 TLB and just have it become the never ending TLB (long term avg, so to speak)?

Sorry if you've answered these already, maybe I've overlooked them. So basically then we'd wind up with a quarterly TLB for $$, an annual TLB for bragging rights, and an on-going cumulative TLB for bragging rights. Close?

Thoughts at the moment - and provisional answers

1. Starting from scratch on the 1st of each Quarter.
Based on at least 2-3 games a week (Stars & Bodog, hopefully Titan and return of Costa etc) a minimum of 8 games to qualify and whilst the spread of sites is still affected by the ban Average will be used.

2. The TLB will be continuing alongside the Quarterly Champs and the yearly Totals will give a winner on 31st December.
At the time of writing the aim/idea is to start afresh on the 1st January.
The possibility of 'career' scores to be kept ie.2007 + 2008 totals as an interest piece/bragging etc.

Provisional ideas and hopefully will become permanent subject to events yet to happen

I had hoped to include Titan but over the past few weeks (months) any screenys seem to have dried up.

Titan dont want me to be on the site (customer support never answers) or i could take them as well.

Basically no info = im lost

Then every like your stocks just a joke 1st,2nd 3rd get paided.
great work on accomplishing this.If you have more percise info that i can put in my log book on my computer as a remember dates and time,
So I can make these fun games and we all have good time doing it.

This is now the permanent home of the Leaderboards - so no more wandering around looking for a post by me

Don't forget 15 games are needed to qualify for the top part of the LB from this quarter

As far as money-added tourneys go, CardsChat appears to be peerless. They are fabulous. However, I fail to see how 50/30/20 would entice anyone to play more of them. Those are tiny prizes for such a great league. I play in a relatively tiny league that has a $530 seat prize MONTHLY. Sorry to be a contrarian, but you should have prizes that are compelling instead of $50 which could easily be won in one tourney (money added first prize) out of the whole three months. I am not complaining at all, just letting you know how things stack up in my view from experience. With those prizes it would simply be playing for pride in my opinion. Which is very fine if that is the true object.

The money added in the tournaments is the real prize - we don't play to win a little bit in the leaderboard. That is just a side competition and it is very successful at encouraging people to play in more of our games. There was a great drive at the top last quarter and I can assure you that none of them were thinking about the monetary prize.

Nick is very generous with the forum - you can see that by the freerolls and the money that is added to the buy-ins. I personally would not want to see any more of that money put towards the leaderboard and I think most members would agree with me.

Only events that have money added are counted in this - so the money is there we just choose to use most of it for the games themselves. And as you stated for that we really have no rival. Almost every other forum I see puts most of their money towards freerolls. We will have those - but we do not wish to become a freeroll forum. We also choose to have our events at well known and established sites. None of those are providing a seat like you describe to a small forum - so that is either at a dumpy site, being given to a forum that has massive freerolls, or the forum is providing it rather than allocating their money to money added buy-ins.

To each their own - but we like this one like it is.

Thanks for the quick update Ian, it's a shock seeing blue numbers next to my name....lol.
Great post Debi, the way I see it is that the leader board is for bragging rights with a few dollars as a sweetener.

I can take them away if you want

Its also the way i see it - it started out so we could see who was playing better, consistantly then quickly turned into a LB - so really, any monies involved are just a little cherry on top

Also a target to aim for if your in 4th or 5th come the last week or two.
