I want to do a league

ok so I want to do one real real bad and I want to run it real real bad, I want this to be more player run then cardschat run which is why I have decided to do it in here. What im thinking is run 2 tourneys a week for like a month or two and use a reverse point system.

like take number of people, say we get like 8 and 1st would get 8 points, 2nd 7 points etc etc and the most points at end of league would get the prize. The thing is we need to only count a certain number of tourneys so it would be fair to people that just could not make all the events. maybe like run it 2 months and only top 8 scores would count. So it would be 16 tourneys total but only top 8 would count. Is there any intrest in this? of course we would have to do it on pokerstars and im also interested in seeing what you all think a fair entry price would be? $10? $20? lets brainstorm guys.

PokerStarsPokerStars is one of the best poker sites on the internet. They accept US players and using PokerStars marketing code CARDSCHAT you get a $75 bonus.

Full Tilt PokerFull Tilt Poker is the poker site the pro's play at. US players are welcome - use Full Tilt Poker referral code CARDSCHAT for a $600 bonus.

We ran a similar league at CDP and made the buyin $5. Experience showed that more than this led to a fall-off in numbers of entries.

I'd most like play in something like this. Would this be limited to just members of CardsChat or is this another one of those things being posted at several sites to drum up participation?

^^^ And this is a must. If you don't have some way of balancing results like this, then the winners will most likely be those with the most availability. Having a system like this (or something else even) makes it more level ground and brings skill more into play.

I like it.

I would play, and I'd prefer $10 buyins, but if $5 is the concensus, then I don't mind that either.

Also, I prefer Stars like you.

we can put it to a vote when we get more intrest and ideas brainstormed and majority wins of course. Maybe we can ask BOB to do poll for us.

it will be one in AM and one in PM every week so all you have to do is make one of them. Remember top 8 scores count so as long as you make 8 of the 16 you will have a score just like people that play all 16

its just easier to set up private tourneys at stars, most of my money goes on Full Tilt Poker but I would put some on pokerstars just for the purpose of this league.

thinking about adding a prize to the league also, not sure if I can get it yet but if I can let me just tell you it will be very very very cool for whoever wins. If I happen to win the league I would give it to 2nd place seeing as I dont need it.

not a 100% sure about it yet, it would be hard for me to give this to a non-regular, it could get me in a lot of trouble if they used it and got in trouble.

as for starting not for a couple weeks at least because want it to be all worked out, every detail 1st.

Sounds okey and dokey. I think you'll generate more interest at $5 than $10, but I like it either way.

My buddies and I did one of these, with the reverse points system too. Gave an extra point to first place though. I like it though and would be interested. $5 would be better for me at this point as well.

How about an added twist? A Stars vs. FT league? Now this would be an interesting league.

Not saying I wont play, but.... I don't really get it... we have games every week where we keep a leaderboard-- isn't that kind of what a "league" is?

Here is the most recent LB (buy-in), and they are nicely maintained by Ian here.

sounds cool to me ,I would like to play also, not sure how many I could play due to limited funds at pokerstars (everywhere else too ) . I also think more people could do a $5 one ,since it's alot of tournies. I'm very curious about the prize you speak of , can you pm me what it is ? I wont bother you back. and last but not least , as per your wish ,I believe you can indeed run it real real bad.

AG , I agree our weekly cc games are already a league, its just some want even more action. lol. jmo

well. sure you could consider the CC games a "league" but i think the point of a league is to have a prize at the end, which stormswa said he was working on getting to use for this league if we get it running.

for the cc games what do you get for being at the top of the leaderboard AG? just to be able to say "im at the top of the leaderboard"? seems like little motivation compared to what a league would bring to the table.
