Poker Stars tourney

Hello All,
Yesterday I played in an Omaha H/L Poker Stars $ tourney. I placed 10th out of 514 and won $11.31. So far that is my highest $ winning. It seems that I don't do as well in the freerolls. Any advice on playing freerolls?

I myself yesterday had TWO nice wins.

$24 on Absolute from a field of 5000 (won)
$14 on Carbon from a field of 3000 ( won)

Me personally, I sit and barring a monster pocket AA,KK, AK and maybe QQ then I will fold absolutely everything. Small pairs, suited connectors, you name it. I dont even throw chips in when its my small blind, I need every chip for later.

Let the donks knock themselves out then set to work on taking chips off the leaders. If its say 1500 chips, then by the time the blinds have chipped me down a bit I am on say 1200 with the blinds at say 50/100. I then set out to double up asap. Get back to a standard size chip stack then start stealing blinds and nicking odd raises.

I set myself a target to be over half way up the leaderboard at all times, so as the field reduces I remain over half way. If I can get into the top 20% then I tighten up a bit, let the others knock themselves out again and then go again at taking chips off people.

With the tips I get off here I am beginning to now get alot closer to the money every game. I am able to spot potential problems when I think I have the top hand when in fact I dont.

All in all, what I learn on here is being used in freerolls to bolster my bankroll before I set about the cash tables. And a nice bankroll I am building up too...

I finished 11th in an Absolute freeroll yesterday. I won a buck or two, I forget. I still have 50 bucks on that account, I was playing for fun but then I started to do well, so I played it out. I have the habit to see a freeroll registering, then when it starts have second thoughts about playing for 5 hours to make 10 dollars. lol So what I do is play the all-in game and see how many times I can double up. Yes I play like one of the donks. haha (well when its free...)

Edit: I was chip leader all the way until like 5 hands before I got knocked out by playing like that! lol It was about time that I got lucky... too bad it was in a freeroll and I only got a buck for 11th!!

Thanks for your input. I play pretty much the way that you have described in most of the tourneys that i play in. @ PokerStars, i usually place in the top 15-20% in their $ tourneys with players ranging from 500-5000. When I play in RB or other freerolls, I have placed in the small $. It just seems that I don't do quite as well with the freerolls. I do okay on the $ tables too. I just can't seem to get up in the $ on freerolls. Thanks again for your input.
