It is interesting how different forums have different requirements to participate in forum tournies. Most of them, at least while they are trying to get people to play for them in next week's Forum Challenge, don't require anything. Some like Poker Analysis require a ton of posts and being a member for some time--which, particularly to other forums, seems a bit excessive. Hasselquist requires five posts, which seems like a nice number.

A rule for "quality" posts should be that "lol" cannot be used. I'm so sick of it I could spit. It's as if people can't say anything without, like some students I once had who like talked like they were about to like do something like they didn't want certain people to like know about. (Yes, a former student of mine is in Girls Gone Wild; she was an A student too.)

I can't really see the issue, its not hard to make 15 posts that aren't just saying "whats the password" "where is the password" "how do I get the password" " can I have the password"

The tournaments are also registered at least a week in advance of them taking place as well. That is loads of time to make 2 posts a day, which on the whole should generally take about a minute to type out.

There is plenty of discussion about various topics on the board and should you not find anything you are interested in, then you are free to create your own.

Its nice to see you actually put some effort into your post about the subject though, thats the kind of thing classes as quality posts, ie anything thats not the general spam that I gave examples of. The tournaments at the moment are free to enter and are provided for our members. If this was not the case then I the freerolls would just overfill full of typical freeroll hunters, who just register, play, then don't take any part in the forum.

Thats not what we wanted and should we get to the point where the freerolls are getting full each time, we can then look at maybe having a small entry fee and examine the entry requirements again.

Anyway with all that said, welcome aboard.

I should clarify something: I didn't mean the post as a criticism of the 15 number of posts required; it was meant more as a criticism of forums that require none just to get people to play for them in the Forum Challenge. Hasselquist's five is OK; your 15 is OK. Poker Analysis with 50 after 30 days is ridiculous. Zero seems suspicious.

As you suggested in your post, more forums also seem to be having tourneys with a nominal entry fee. Wannatalkpoker has one coming up on Absolute Poker for 1 +.10. Poker Cartel and Poker101a have 2+.20's on Absolute. I would certainly recommend you/your forum doing the same. It certainly cuts down on the number of no shows (the number of no shows at Poker Junkie tourneys are astronomical) at tourneys. And Absolute Poker seems to kick in $50 into the prize pools of these tourneys. To spend $2 for a 20 player tourney for a $90 prize pool is well worth the investment.

robnstacey as that quote says in your post it tells you that in the freeroll section

Dingo, good post there, looks like you have been reading my mind as for things to come, havn't really seen what other forums are doing, but we have certainly been discussing having paid entry tournaments with a larger added prize pool.

As you rightly said paying $1 or $2 for a larger prize pool where its limited entry as opposed to public, is certainly worth it.

Grumble, I saw that the forum WannaTalkPoker on Absolute Poker is getting $100 added to their $1+.10 game, not just $50. This may be because that forum has competitions against other forums in $5 games; each forum gets about 9-10 people to buy in. $5 may be a bit salty for a newbie, and after one has shown well in the $1-2 forum games, then $5 is probably the next step. But Absolute Poker is going forum crazy! I'd like to see you set something up with them. (There's another forum that uses Poker Stars that I'm also going to suggest they make the switch to Absolute as well.) And no, I don't work for Absolute. It's just that in the last few weeks they have beaten out Poker Champs as my favorite site, in large part by their relationship with forums, which I think is a win-win-win scenerio.

Use the Post Luke

And the Passwords will come to you. Or something like that. Cant blame the people running this message board wanting some fresh posting in here. Not just blah, blah blah, but something that least get your attention and makes you shake you heads.

So POST and you shall recieve!

Agreed. Honestly, it takes alot of people who are interseted in posting and exchanging ideas that keeps a site like this going. The added bonuses of freerolls and specials with other sites is a plus, but there needs to be a stong member base for this to thrive.

Ok, 15 posts isn't that hard, is the password emailed to me afterwards, or will it magically appear when I get to that magical number

the freeroll section tells you the information you need to get the password

at the moment you aren't entitled to the password as you have not fulfilled what it tells you to do in the freeroll section

I have just given a direct link to the sticky thread which tells you all this as well.

That goes for everyone else too who is stuck. GO READ THE THREAD ;]
