New Freeroll Information

For a more up to date version of this, see this thread

Some of you may have noticed that there has been discussion about changing/moving the freerolls so I'd just thought I'd let you all know the score.

Basically, the first one was a big hit, we all had fun and congratulations to the top 5. The leaderboard is available here if you want to see how people did.

All future cardschat.com freeroll related discussion will be in this new sub-forum of suggestions, feedback & announcements... The password and username thread will stay where it is but no new topics are to be created there. All questions you have should be asked in this forum.

OK so down to the freeroll news. 10 posts are still required before you are able to view the password thread. This does not mean you can post 10 times and never post on the site again, we will actively be checking the users who are eligible to get the password and making sure they are staying active on the forums. If they aren't access will be removed. This freeroll was setup specifically for active users of the site, not for people who want to visit once and never return. As a note it takes up to 1 hour after you've got 10 posts to be able to view the password forum so please don't post "why haven't I got access" until you've given it at least an hour. Spam is NOT tolerated, we've had several people try spamming 10 posts to get the password and they've been banned from the forums and from the freeroll.

The schedule is as follows: The next freeroll, 14th of Feb, will be taking place on a Monday as usual at 7.30pm GMT (2.30pm EST). It will have a limit of 350 people (although we don't expect to even fill half of it). The password for this freeroll will be put up shortly in the same place as usual.

The week after that the freeroll will be held on Sunday the 20th of Feb at the normal time. This will be limited to 100 people only. Future freerolls will also follow the same plan. For these 100 people freerolls we will post the password to the freeroll between 1-4 hours before the event takes place, so make sure you're around to get your slot asap. Also, some of you may have already registered for a freeroll on the 21st, this has been removed so please be prepared to resignup for the new freerolls.

We also have plans for additional prizes, details will follow soon. The winner of each freeroll will now get a custom user title (see heshkak's as an example) in green to show that they won one of our freerolls.

Re: The Freeroll

Hi Nick and everyone else,
I think the freeroll is a great idea and even though I made the 10 posts in time I couldn't make it back from a meeting in time to play so it looks like I sat out in the first one, sorry if I created a delay for anyone playing at my table it wasn't intentional, I'lll make sure i'm in the next one.
I also think it's a great idea to keep it for active members only as it would be easy for someone to take advantage of the freeroll never to post again so good idea on that too Nick.
Great bunch of people here and ok i'll tell, remember the depositors freeroll I was in? I was trying to stay quiet about it but I actually think I was one of the first to go out, never been knocked out so quickly before especially at Noble, I was dealt AQ of clubs, not a bad pre-flop hand and I thought I would just call the betting, someone bets 200 pre-flop so I put him on a pocket pair, probably middle pair i'm thinking, ok so the flop comes out 2 clubs and a Q can't remember the exact cards but the Q is the highest on the table giving me the highest pair with an A kicker and one card away from the flush, this guy has bet 200 so i'm going to scare him off by going all-in, I hardly ever bet like that but it seemed appropriate. He didn't scare, no wonder he had pocket Kings, nothing else showed and he took me out.
Looking back obviously I shouldn't have gone all-in but I would have called another bet anyway with those cards and he probably would have gone all-in after the flop anyway so either way it was the luck of the cards on that particular hand, I would have liked to have stayed in longer. Better luck next time, I always come back sooner or later.
Hope to play you all in the next freeroll for cardschat members, good luck at the tables,

Tony ( The Webmaster )

Don't miss next weeks TheWebmaster, it was a lot of fun Ouch... you shouldn't play like that so early in tournaments, at least wait until you have chips to push people around with.

I agree that the first tournament was a terrific success, and I think making the password only available one to four hours before the tournament is a very good idea. I think this because of the large amount of sit-outs there were last tournament. If the password is only made available a few hours pre tournament, this should mean only active people will be participating in the tournament. Keep up the great work Nick, I really enjoy this forum.

That is a fantastic idea - Giving out password 1hr before start time!!!!

That will cut way down on No-Shows--------------------------

I Agree

Hi all,
I know that I myself due to unforseen circumstances ended up being a "no-show" and I apologise for that. This is why I agree with the idea of releasing the password a couple of hours before the tourney, this way if something comes up then I miss the tourney and don't create any delays for the ones that do show. I would know for sure a couple of hours before the tourney if I could make it or not.
Nick, I haven't had a chance to look all over the forum but is there a thread where we can promote some poker rooms without the threat of spamming? If so can you point me in the right direction?
I have a bunch of poker rooms which are offering some incredible freerolls but it seems I can't just go and tell other players about them which I sort of understand but I play in some excellent freerolls which don't even get half full most of the time and it's a shame if there are players here who are looking for more. Let me know ok? If you want me to run them by you first Nick i'll understand that, if you haven't got a thread for this no worries.
I would at least like to mention to the others to check my sig for the biggest freeroll on the internet at this moment in time, I don't put my sig in my posts again for spam reasons but you can see it in my profile.
Good luck all
See you at the tables,
Tony ( The Webmaster )

Hi Tony,

You could post a thread in Poker General or Playing Poker I guess, entitled "Freerolls" just make sure you don't come across as promoting the sites (or your site), rather than just letting people know about the freerolls available.

I just realized that is a GREAT idea to eliminate the problem of the sit outs.

I won a freeroll on Noble and got something $26, I decided since it was free money, I'd put it up. I registered for a $20 tourney, and on the FIRST hand I got Aces. I limped in, someone raised, I reraised, he reraised, and I committed all-in to the pot. He had queens and got a set on the turn. There went my freeroll money...

What do you guys think to the idea of a user having to be registered here for say 10 days before being able to get the freeroll password? This way we eliminate people who come to here to post just 10 messages, play in the freeroll and never be seen again.

Not bad but i think 10 days is a long term... probably better will be about 7 days for example or 5 days...

Re : Freeroll question???

Hi Everyone,
Nick has the password been changed for this upcoming freeroll? I noticed there are about 40 registered already but the previous password didn't work for me and I can't seem to find any new posts that the password did in fact change. If you remember I missed the first one and i'd like to be in on this Monday's one if that's ok, could you let me know please? Thanks in advance.
By the way, some really unusual poker tournaments coming up, this one by far the best opportunity you'll ever get, there is a $1,000,000 satellite tourney coming up in march, but get this, there is an opportunity to win one of 20 seats to the second round in a FREEROLL, one per day but I don't know how long for, the place in question is the one that I wrote a review on, you can get there via my sig which I don't display but you can see it in my profile.
If you decide to give it a go would appreciate you using my links if your not already a member.
I get a lot of regular updates from some very good people and i'll be trying to put more on my site as soon as I get more time.
Let me know about this monday's freeroll please Nick and i'll see you all there Monday, good luck at the tables.

I think its a fantastic idea not giving out the password till a few hours before, it means that if you are around and register you are more likely to be able to play than if you registered a few days before hand and circumstances change.

it would benifit players if all sites got rid of all the sit outs after the fist 10 mins or at least the 1st level of play

i agree darkhorse.....its unfair...and time consuming...for all of us who actually show up. ... i feel taken advantage of...when its me and two other players..and the rest are sitting out for at least an hour and a half...before the blinds finally eat them up....................sorry....just had to share my opinion
