Heated freeroll - requirement free - thoughts?

The PokerStars freeroll didn't exactly go to plan so we were thinking of doing the same again but this time not asking for any requirements....

There would be 2 heats and the top50 from each would qualify for the finals to win a $200 prizepool, it's a bit of fun and gives the site a bit of exposure, what do you think?

good but not good

i like the idea of more exposure but that also invites the "kiddies" to join in and play...u know em the "all in" gang that beats your a/k with a 2/7.

I agree with steveg72, it sounds good, but I could see it being up in the multi-thousands range. I like the idea of playing with others in the forum.

The requirement is not that hard, 15 posts.

Yer kiddies will play, but what we're thinking of is just one "free for all" freeroll where we really don't care about quality of play, but it may be fun battling off 400 or so other people

BigK, we have plenty of freerolls for members only but we thought just this once, we'd see what happens on a large poker site, with no requirements, it could be quite interesting

I'm all for it! It's a good idea, but would there be a maximum amount of people allowed? And if so, would it be possible to make it forum members with 15+ posts get the password..say 2 days in advance, and then once we're all registered, remove the password, or post it on the tournament lobby on Poker Stars, or whatever site is being used, so that anyone can play, but if there is a maximum amount, no members miss out.

As someone new to the forum, I am all for it but honestly if I would have been here since the begining I am not sure I would be thrilled with a no requirment freeroll. Now, I understand why you are doing it but you need to "take care" of the players who have been here awhile and particpating.I think those who have(not me) should get an automatic to next level

It's a nice Idea and a try will be ok. We can talk after how it was.

Let's try it...

Well if we are gonna run pokerstars freerolls non-members are going to find ways to get in, and yes there will be "kiddies" because there are alot that play in the pokerstars freerolls. If the main goal is exposure opening a freeroll to anyone on pokerstars would do the trick and then have the private ones at the smaller sites. I wouldn't make the pokerstars deal a large prizepool though. Save those for the small private ones. Any prize pool on pokerstars will accomplish the goal of exposure because the daily freerolls that pokerstars run are only satellites. So the peeps that normally play star's freerolls will jump all over a freeroll that pays out. I would also spread out the money to more than final table. Just some thoughts that IMHO would better accomplish what the site wants to accomplish.

Nick,

I see what your saying, it could be interesting. It is worth a shot. Take on all the "all-in" gang. See who's left standing.

Don't think of this as one of "our" freerolls, just think of it as an extra. It won't affect our other freerolls, as you can see, we're having plenty of private ones all the time. I just wanted to try one that was public. No there won't be a maximum allowed...

How would you split up the prize money?

So if the idea is to attract peeps to the site the more that get a piece of the pie even a small piece will remember that, ESPECIALLY newbies that don;t have a roll yet and when they are ready to pony up they might be more inclined to use a site recommended by the peeps that gave them their first taste of real money action. whatcha think although I don't know when it comes to sites getting "kick backs" for lack of a better phrase. Poker Rooms want sites that bring new players right?

ALSO if I could remember off the top of my head, I don't. Find out the minimum buy in at the smallest limit pokerstars ring games and that would be the smallest payout. I think its 50 cents but I really don't recall. Can you tell anything that stimulates my brain to fire I'm into The idea is to obtain loyalty so you give em something while it is the bare minimum its still something they can get excited about, that they might be able to do something with. ie what good does 49 cents do if you can't join a table?

Good ideas dman... I think we will maybe say top50 from each heat go to the final and then the final, the prizemoney is split between all 100 of the people, so they all get a bankroll.

I'm not the most vocal or postiest poster. But small fields are a lot better. For a poor college guy like myself -- I like the fact I can get final 20-30 people practice in. I busted early in the fulltilt one but at least the play was decent and not full of children. And I played horridly. the 15 posts is easy to do... if people cant talk for 15 posts without spamming then I dont want to see them at the tables. Just my opinion, sorry if I offended anyone.

I feel that that there are plenty of freerolls open to everyone on the many sites. The one thing I like about cardchat freerolls. As long as it does not detract from cardschat freefolls I dont mind, such as it does not take away from the money from thouse who have done more then just clicking on a botten.

if you do something like like and let as many people join that can you can expect at least 6000 players!!! is that what you really want? Thos type of freerolls are quite out of hand if you ask me.

Well all I want is to do it twice, to get our name on pokerstars, as it's fairly unknown there. I'm going to try it, don't worry, it won't take away from our other freerolls.

Well we haven't planned any maximum number of players in the heats, so there is no need for that.

yeah i think its a great idea to have an open tourney, but would it be better to offer a freeroll satellite to non members so they can earn a seat to a members-only freeroll payout. Members would automatically qualify for the tourney then non members trying to get to the tourney would realize that it would be easier to just become a member.

OH and the 15 posts...thats why we are members here, but just lower the requirements to 5 or 10 posts.

That's quite a good idea actually but I'm not quite sure how pokerstars would figure out who is a member or not, we'd have to submit a username list?

Freerolls

The full tilt sites offers 2 900 person daily freerolls, with little payout, perhaps you could make them have to come to the site to find out the password. Another Idea is to have A Bracket Tournament Top 50 from each sites tourny. And maybe use a satelitte to finish it off. Say you had 4 sites top 50 from each. You could have 25 from each site play in 100 people top 20 from each into final round. that leaves you with 40 players. Top 25 get paid. And if you wanted to have a final play in for spots you could to get up to 50 players. Or you could get down to 52 players and have them play heads up 1 on 1. Winner moves on, loser's out. Where if you make it into the second round you will win at least $1. Have those 26 play each other, to get to 13, Then you could have a 2 round, round robin tourny where 2 wins get you to final table. that would give you 7 total, and to get the last few seats, go off of which of the 6 and have a table to get to the final table. Last 2 advance to finals. Then you get to the winner. There you could have a points system if you wanted to and have 3 rounds. and have points go up from last which is 0. The person with the most wins 1st place

This is a good Idea. Changing things up can add a new twist to the game. I would make a point to try and attend. How often would they run?.

Interesting idea extreme_peak, but we wanted this is a one off pokerstars event. I think we have the details just about ready, just awaiting a reponse from their support team.

i think that the open freeroll would work only if us members were plugging the site the whole time i nthe tournament. if not it would just be another freeeroll for al of the pokerstars users to play in.

I think its a good marketing idea. Although if they could get away with it our webmaster friends would have cardschat.com on every card, table, seat and avatar :-)
