Full Tilt Freeroll... I made it in...

Forgot to set alarm and woke up anyway. Weirdness. Okay the Cardschat Full Tilt Sunday freeroll. That's the one, $350 prize pool I think. Sorry, just didn't expect to even get the chance to play so I'm excited and happy about getting the chance.

So can anyone tell me what to expect? I mean, is it just like every other freeroll? Or better? I guess by "better" I'm asking if there's a nice pool of solid to good players in amongst the fish? I read somewhere(maybe Barry Greenstein said it?) anyway, the best table has a good mix? That if you're a decent player, you're better off with a good mix of players at the table, than just fish or good players. Hmmm, maybe was Cloutier?

I was just curious because I read on the boards that most folks just join for passwords and not to participate or improve their game.

There is a mix - it is still a freeroll. The payouts are good and the field is reasonable.

Play tight to get deeper in the tourney. That way you will be able to observe the kind of players that play there. Even if you don't make the money, you will have a better sense for next weekend. And of course, don't forget to set the alarm clock.

Okay settled down enough to look at the tournament info more closely. Smaller field + larger payout structure = better odds of being in the money right?

I know it should be simple, but my logic gets wonky. So if I normally make it to the 200s or better in a regular Full Tilt freeroll; with the number of entrants at over 2k, does that mean I should do reasonably well? I should then make it to the 90s or better in this freeroll?

Oh well, first time out. Just hoping to do well. Not necessarily win any $ and certainly not expecting to make it in the money or make final table.

Oh thanks for replying. Hey is my logic flawed in my last post? Just do my best and expect to make it to somewhere in the 90s or better?

Okay mine says top 81 places payout. But mine isn't a payout question. Making it into the money would be gravy, and a nice bit of money to save up.

It was about how I normally place. It's normally in the 200s or better when entrants are at over 2k(in the regular Full Tilt freerolls). So I'm wondering if that translates to 90s with the number of entrants at 900.

I think they went on depending how many people registered. Mine now says the Top 90 payout with 900 players (filled) in the game.

Half of the field is usually gone in the first 30-40 minutes, most of the complete donks will be gone at that point. After that you might find the competition tougher than you're used to.

Thank you for answering my question . Whew, finally, someone understood the words that were coming out of my fingers!

Lately I've played a lot more ring games. But against players who are a mix of: worse than me, about the same level as me, and better than me. Ya know, it's like tennis or chess. Play against someone who's worse than you all the time and you never improve. But play against people who are better and you improve.

My game's way better than it was b4. But that's my overall/ring game.

So for this, I think, super-tight + aggressive + try to get a good read on the table(s), should = hold my own. That's what I really want, to hold my own .

Cardschat.com, home of the worst players ever!

In todays Full Tilt Poker $350 freeroll I couldnt believe the number of all ins. After about 10 minutes i get AA in middle position. A guy in front of me goes all in pre flop and I call. Its AA vs 44 and of course he hits a 4 on the river!!! Who goes all in out of the blue pre-flop with 44?

You expected better from a freeroll?

If you want real poker, come play the buy-in tournaments.

I was at this table and this guy (44) had gone all in like 4 times in a row. You made the right call, of course, but got unlucky. What can you do? Sorry just a rough beat.

My tables been the complete opposite.. good players or overly cautious? One person was eliminated on a very good hand (A/K w/ K on the flop).. I had Q/10 with Q on the flop.. got lucky and hit the straight.

Got 473rd.. got beat out on two hands that were a bit better than mine.

1st - 3 hearts on the board.. had the flush.. got beat out on a higher flush.. knocked me down from 6,000 - 3,000 chips. (Dr-Nat beat me on this one)

And the killer - had K/8, flop was 8/J/8.. called an all-in on the turn, got beat out by the J/8 full house. (murph00 was the murderer)

Had lots of fun, though! I liked my table that I was at, very good players! I'll be doing this next Sunday.

yes, but were the aces suited?

you need to tighten up early in these things.

serves you right for playing so loose.

First break, 319 left and I'm 17th in chips. Scanning for familiar names but not finding many. BBB is hanging in.
