The donks get me too. Best said that there are a bunch of people who think they are players but just play lottery with the free rolls. I do my share of bluffing but this isn't bluffing. It's funny though that it's getting to the point that when you spot the idiots, they are setting targets. That's why I don't get too upset as their time is limited. I get tired of hearing, " it's just a free roll."

It doesn't bother me anymore. You have to be very patient and they usually bust themselves. You usually can spotem out. When you spottem out then you can get rid of them pretty quickly.

For all those who complain about donks in freerolls:
IMHO most of us, if not all of us play under par poker in a freeroll, and you have no right to complain about badbeats by donkeys, I can admit that I play less than my best poker during a freeroll because if I try to play above par poker and get beat by someone calling my 5xBB raise with 10-3os and ends up beating my KK or any premium hand then I would go crazy.
Badbeats happen all the time, more-so in a freeroll but they do happen and the sooner you learn to expect them the better off you are.

Yeah I play like crap in freerolls since I don't depend on them to kickstart a br anymore, haha. That's part of the reason I don't play them anymore (even CC ones)

Grin and bear it. That's the nature of freerolls at least until the first break then it becomes more like a real money tourney. But hey, trying to figure out a way to beat the donks just makes this game that much more interesting. So stop crying and figure a way to kick their azz.

there will always be donkeys, it is part of game. But remember you will beat them more than they will beat you if you don't let them get to you and play your own game.

Is it a donk play if you raise with nothing? Get called by a better preflop hand? Suckout two pair and win pot. To me that is steal move that got exposed and got lucky. It may piss off the loser, but any two cards can win. Some you think are donkeys are experienced players making moves.

i understand the frustation on bad play early. honestly for the first half hour or so i will limp in almost always, fold anything thats not a pair when raised usually and just avoid in general any large pots unless im a clear leader or have the nuts. let the chips fly around till the first break. be there after that to pick up the pieces and collect the chips.

i agree u cant make it cheap especially in a freeroll. Bet out the ppl with a weak hand, dont make no odds for them (even tho a lot of freerolls dont even c odds just thinking "maybe i'll hit 2 pair with 6 8 or flop a str8"). But in poker no hand preflop is promiised so dont let a bad beat bring u down,. its all part of the game and most of the time ud win in ure situation so keep playing!

Not everyone can be good. In anything with this many competitors you are going to have people that play good and people that do not know what they are doing. Comes with the territory.

donks and freerolls

As long as there is no entry fee there will always be players who play crazy eg donks. If you cant handle them the solution is simple. . . dont play freerolls. Most of the crazyness is gone within 10-20 min usually, but there is always the chance of bad beats. . . thats online poker 4 ya

It doesn't matter what forum freeroll your playing in,on which site,or for any amount of prize money. You are still going to encounter the freeroll donks, who will push/call any amount, with any 2 cards. That is why they are called donks.
Sometimes you will make it to the first break, and hopefully things will slow down, and you will get a chance to progress further.
If not,curse/swear/shout/scream/take a swig of something/or roll a big fat one up,and have a smoke, then calm down, and move onto the next one.
Eventually, you will get used to it.

Don't know whether this is good or bad but I just won a small tourney of 17 players - most were serious players who dropped to the $5 level just for this game - one had lifetime winnings of $26K, another $10k, etc. We did not see a showdown until hand 48! I play alot of freerolls and I could not believe it. Basically, 3BBs raises pre-flop or a half-pot bet on the flop were taking the pots. Eventually, I got the hang of it. WOW, so different from freerolls where a 3BB raise just seems like a red rag to a bull (or a herd of bulls) willing to go all-in pre-flop with hands like J5o. Guess I'll have to de-skill to survive the first hour of the next freeroll!

What are the real money cardchat games like?

While I subscribe to Phil Gordon's betting scheme it isn't always possible to chase the idiots away. 1st hand in Sunday's FR on Full Tilt Poker I had Pocket Aces had one had two players limp in front of me. I bet the pot about 5 x the bb both called. Flop a bunch of rainbow rags. I bet 4 times the BB again get called. On the turn another rag doesn't pair up the board. I again I bet out get called then the third player goes all in. Has two pair 9s and 5s. His pocket cards were 9 and 5. No reason to call the pre flop bid other than he could.

Yes, one important reason: if he make the hits then he double (at least) his stack if don't then doesn't matter because is free and he haven't any problem to get burned in the first hand.

The level of play is what you expect to play. No all in donking with a 3/9. You get a high level of play there. That is why you see most of the longtime members playing there.

One of the golden rules of freerolls is to never, ever go all-in pre-flop on the first hand of the tournament, regardless of what cards you have.
The good thing is that you didn't waste hours playing in the freeroll, only to end up being taken out the same way...
