just curious!

I was wondering exactly how, or what steps are taken to get to a major poker event in a casino, or on tv? I have always been curious and have only been playing online poker for a few weeks now, and I have been rather successful. I was just wondering if there was a certain way to give yourself a better chance or if there was certain tourneys that give you that route.

Great Thread. Not only informative, but reading the whole history provides some good insight into how these online sites have changed and adjusted over time.

I am a little confused, I won $2 in a Full Tilt Poker freeroll. Do I have to make a cash deposit to get the $2? or do I just have to give them my credit card info?

It only took 5 hours to make that $2! I want to treat myself to a coffee so I can stay awake and win another $2! LOL! :-)

Thanks for the info. Makes sense when you think about it though. The sites are all about making money just like the casinos. One way or another there is always a catch.

I always deposit when I join a poker site and play some freerolls to build my bankroll and take my deposit out, then play with freeroll money.

bodog

I've been scanning the bodog agreements and this thread. Does this apply to freeroll winnings on bodog. Can anyone shed any light on this?

excellent post

Yes, it is fun to play in freerolls, but if you have neer actually been involoved in a real money game on a site, from a deposit, it may be more trouble than its worth! Plus other people are playing and could easily cash out the winnings.

I am a card shark at facebook poker and won over 50,ooo chips quite quickly but it did take awhile. Good solid play pays, But when you play real money at any site in the long run you loose to the river bad beats. You get kk and it makes you bet and 2 9 off takes you in hte river over and over. Then some chump tells you you are a fish for the 100th time. You check your stats at a site like pokertracker and yes indeed you are a fish. You do great in freerolls and get courage to deposit. You get bonus money to deposit or just to refer friends but only if they spend a fortune. LOL I cannot believe the people play at these sites and think it is random cards. Or that they play 3 hour freerolls to win 2.00 and turn it into 10 and find out that minimum cashout is 100 bucks instadebit at full tilt. Other sites are just as bad in their own way. I am just venting but hope this helps a newcomer to save his or her money as poker is for entertainment online only. If you think you will make money because you are the best in the world your in for a surprise. They feed you cards to make you bet then beat you in river with crap and say bad beats happen all the time in real poker. Well in real money online poker the rake is not enough for the greedy site owners. They hire players to make em more dough. And make you mad so you come back for more. It is huge how much take and show me one player that makes money online that is just a working guy. I have not met one yet just bser so please don't repond with garbage.

Hi, how long have you been playing freerolls? So, if you almost always cash, that means more than 50% of the time, right? That is so awesome, can you keep that up over a long period of time? If so, I'd like to know how you do it, have you played more than 200 freerolls and have cashed in over 100 of them? I know it's probably possible, but my freeroll record is much worse than that because I don't know how to get the players to respect my raises and if I just limp, and then don't hit the flop, they bet and I have to fold and if I don't fold, they beat me cause they either get lucky or they just happen to have a stronger hand for that particular hand and I end up losing. I don't do bad in freerolls, it's just that if I were to cash in over 50% of them over a very long period of time, say 200 of them, I would be accomplishing what, to my mind, would be an impossible task, so please do post again and tell me how you do it, won't you?

dep

Your first post on depositing before you win any freeroll money is right on,and very important to understand about poker sites. That said, all sites are not the same.I like cakes withdrawl method myself, you must earn 2 gold coin and make a minimum deposit, well they give you 1 gold coin for making a deposit, then you only have to earn 1 more, which you can do before or after you deposit.I earned my 1 coin b4 i deposit,so as soon as i deposit,i will be able to withdraw.I believe its very easy and acceptable!

This thread does have an interesting history. I have yet to get in the money in a freerool, albeit withing a few places on several occasions. Being from the other side of the world, i've always been reluctant to send my credit card details to sites unless i really trusted them, so if i ever do win anything on a freeroll, it would be interesting to see if i got the money

Well, before you join a site, read all of the info here, and ask questions here about anything you dont know about a site.
I would also *google* the site for complaints. That shoud bring anything negative up.
I never won hardly anything until I got ahold of some info on how to win at online poker.I actually never spent any money on books, but I did sign up for a free newsletter from a pro about it.I immediatly started winning freerolls and sitngo s.Id recommend buying some books specifically for your favorite game. You might get lucky and find enough info free if you research the net enough...Let us know how ya do,after you read up.

Any money won in freerolls can be used to play real money games on any site as far as I know. I have funded 4 different sites to date with freeroll winnings and use all those accounts to play real money games. I do know that at full tilt u need a minimum of $3.00 to play at cash table.

Very informative post! First time here, and it's already come in handy as I just decided yesterday that I was gonna make loads of cash off of freerolls without making deposits... Now I know I need to look into this a little further!!
Thanks!

I have cashed out freeroll winnings at bodog without ever having made a deposit. I used the check method of cashing out. It took 30 business days as stated by bodog, but they were on-time with the check.

wired bank transfer should do the trick but u have to do online banking with ur bank.
dont know if u have it in jersey but here we have paysafecards u can buy these in some store's with different values its a peace of paper with a code u enter the code and the value of the card is deposit in a second to youre account i find this the safest way u dont need to give any personal info if the cards are not for sale in ur country maybe u can order them online or so
