First table - early position - I always fold even premium hands till the crazies get knocked out.

i'm with chilebeeny. Fold couple of first hands, also monsters. Maybe when not so many go into the pot, then I'll come along

Dontcha Hate it

I HATE IT WHEN FIRST HAND OF SOMEONE (not even half the table) GOES ALL IN PREFLOP!!
I have to fold because you never know what the flop will do
, and I DO NOT want to be the 1st one out !

Even worse, I will fold and then someone doubles up with a lesser hand that I could've beat.

yep, but sometime when you have a great premium hand if you do go all in then you catch huge pot.
Even if you fold to premium hand then you probably will go allin and probably will ge knocked out by some fool with 27os who will catch full house.

I do not say you should go or not to go all in, it's your decision.

But if you are patient in freerolls, and whit premium hand just to take your chance and go all in, someone will follow you and you will be knock him out, so you will advance in.

Play at your best abillity's and judgment, and have a good flop be with you.

Sincerely,

Dino

I hate the first few hands of the freeroll because people will go all in regardless of their preflop hand quality. I think the best Idea is to fold anything but premiums, and you should not even try to play moderately nice hands unless you are in great position.

One thing I have tried and it seems to work some of the time is to NEVER raise the first couple of hands no matter what. Sometimes the initial raise is what sets off the "All In" folks. I have managed to limp into flops and get good hands where I can push post flop with my set and still get 2 or 3 callers who have middle or bottom pair or just air.

If I limp and someone pushes, then just drop it.

Got my AA allin on first hand cracked...by an 8/4 offsuit a couple of days ago in an Absolute Poker freeroll. From now on, I'm folding everything until the donks, drunks and potheads get it out of their systems.

In this situation, hope for a few calls on the all in, and look to see what cards they've played. It's bad poker to go all in pre-flop anyway (at least this early in a tournament), but if people are doing it with mediocre pockets, you'll be able to set them up for a donation later.

I had to learn restraint by sitting out the first 1/2 hour of a tournament. The all in crazies are usually gone by then and there's still plenty of time to chip up.

If I have AA, sure, I'll call an all in. I don't know anyone who wouldn't. My chances there are great. And you're right about the freerolls. You may have to take a few extra chances to get ahead.

This is got to be one of the only truths in freeroll poker. Usually I will sit watching TV while I'm playing to entertain myself for the first hour, only playing premium hands with good position or decent hands with cheap peaks at the flop. Patience young Daniel-son.

I have gotten over it, until everyone slowly gets it. It's going to happen and keep happenning.

I've learned to live with it by now. Just sit back and wait. Easier said than done, of course. I just ignored my own advice in a $1000 freeroll. Had KK after the turn, with no potential dangers on the table. One guy goes all-in (same as he did on every other hand), I call, he has 88... and gets another 8 on the river. Yay.

ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IF YOUR GONNA LIMP IN THEN CALL A ALL IN ,YOU MIGHT AS WELL BE THE ONE TO PUSH FIRST. I HAVE NOTICED ON FULL TILT THAT THE ONE TO PUSH FIRST NO MATTER WHAT THERE HAND IS WINS A GOOD PERCENTAGE OF THE TIME.OTHER THAN THAT JUST WAIT THE DONKEYS OUT AND PLAY YOUR GAME.

Drives me nuts but I just sit there and watch these people go all in with cruddy hands and it shortens the field of players. Once in a while I'll go ahead if I have a great hand and position but that's the only time.

It used to bug me, but I am seeing a trend that many people don't even play the first hands because they have seen too many go all in.

I will limp in and if any one is actually playing and decides to go all in, and if I decide not to call, I am only out $10.00.

I've actually picked up blinds limping in on the first hand of a MTT

everyone here is complaining about these people....but i think they are great early on if you pick up AA or KK....if they keep pushing then you know they are going to pay you off or get lucky....and they are only getting lucky abou 30 percent of the time....so why not take the risk if you are the favorite???

i love these people because they are pretty much saying, "here, you take my chips, because i dont want em"

The early all-ins don't bother me, just wait them out or like wkonevich says if you have a large pair take them down. What bothers me is the players who will call big raises at each spot and beat your 3 queens with pocket (6 2) and catch a flush to knock you out or cripple you. Now that sucks.

I'm not going to lie... I go all in about every free roll but on full tilt you have to... if you win you get to set the tone for the table... if you don't win... then you get in another free roll... I usually make it to 1 out of 7 final tables of tournaments i enter using this method...

I've been at a few tables where 90% of the players go all-in first hand. For me, it all depends on my mood. I'll donk off a few all-in's on the first few hands once in awhile if I'm planning on playing awhile. I usually play 3-4 tables at a time anyway, so I'm rotating them in and out.

If one table gets up in chip counts, so much the better.

The other thing you can do to kill the time is bring up CardsChat and do some posting!!

I happen to agree with this theory, I have seen it work for me especially when holding premuim hands . Sometimes you just get unlucky, but it's great when your holding JJ on a 9 high flop & a couple of these crazy's go all-in & you got there nine dominated.

Sometimes i go in with a premium hand if Im not worried about that tournament. I will usually fold in a league game or one that is more important.

what i hate even more is mid way through a player goes all in thru out the tourney after they win that first hand and have chips and they continue to bully that way and here you are playing well and everytime you catch a pem hand there they are again all in bulling to play a small pocket or something like that hate it
