Keep in mind that Duplicate Poker runs on a different concept than most poker sites. Be sure to watch the demo after you click the banner above.

So who's gonna try it out with me?

From Duplicate Poker's Rules page:
"How it works

Duplicate Poker involves play of Pot Limit and No Limit Texas Hold'em under the general rules governing that game with four exceptions.
  • First, there are always two or more tables of players, with the same number of players seated at each table.
  • Second, an identically shuffled deck of cards is used at each table for each hand played so that players in the same seat position at each table receive the same hole cards and the common cards are the same at each table.
  • Third, every player begins each hand with the same number of playing chips, regardless of how he/she may have done in any previous hand.
  • Fourth, the winner of each hand is determined based on the number of chips he or she has at the end of the game as compared with those held by all players in the same seat at the other tables.
Determining winners by comparing the results achieved by the players playing identical hands eliminates the luck of the draw element normally associated with poker so that skill is what determines who wins, not whether you got good cards or bad cards. Every hand can win if it is well played."

I already have duplicate poker, and have for a long time, is this a problem for me?

I joined it when it was still e-poker.

Duplicate poker is weird! I would try to describe the weirdness, but it is too weird to describe. That is not to say it is not a good form of poker, it is.

In many of the tourney's there, you might never know how you are doing until you either make it to the next round, or find yourself on the rail.

Incidentally, I won one of the tourney's there by folding every single hand. They way it works there I lost less than all the other players at different tables who saw the exact same hands as me.

There are as many winners of their tourney's as there will be players at each table. They do use 'bots' to fill out the odd table. Not a problem there as you will not be playing against the bot at your table, you are playing against an unseen player sitting in the same seat as you are at a different table playing the same cards you are playing and it all happens at the same time. Every hand is played hand for hand.

No way I'm depositing on this, but if I read that correctly we can get free cash without a deposit? I may just try this for fun. But there's another way to eliminate (or virtually eliminate) the luck factor, play a sh**load of hands.

One question though, how do they define a game? Is each hand calibrated, so if one person folds preflop, other guy flops the K high flush and loses all his chips to the nut flush does the person who folded PF get a ton of chips right after that hand? Also, if the net must be 0, if someone folds (losing 0 chips) and someone wins gaining say 100 chips. Does that mean that the winner gets 50, folder loses 50? Really confusing, could be an interesting concept, but I think I'll stick with what I've been playing for a few years now.

The key to this as I see it is to make more (or loss less which ever the case may be) than the other guy with the same cards. It is not as fun as real poker imo but it seems to be easy money... maybe. I have play about 10 games and won 8 I think. Not a very big sample but I think a skilled player could win regularly at this game turning a profit.

Good old poker is still #1, I'm sure. This is just -- different. On site, they compare it with duplicate bridge. Actually sounds kinda fun in a general card game way. Like musical chairs for poker (I jest -- it's supposed to eliminate some of the luck factor, I think).

i downloaded it, got my free $10 and played a $2 14 man tourney, placed 3rd and won $14. the game in itself sux, but easy money! I still dont think ill be playing there much, cuz i lose it when your the only person in the hand PRE-FLOP and they still take 2 minutes and deal the flop turn and river...

First of all, before I rant I would like to say thanks to Nick and everyone else involved for getting this promotion to all loyal CardsChat members.

I personally thought DP was complete crap. First off, it was pot-limit. Then, its played hand for hand through out the whole tournament. And then!, I just don't get it. I think I will stick to regular NL HE instead of.. Whatever they have. Its like someone was Hi when they made that site.

Only some of the hands are PL, sometimes the hands might be limit, if you make it past the first stage, it is No Limit.

The hand for hand parts is a bit odd. But it is done to prevent anyone from having any possible advantage. All the players who will get those cards get them at the same time.

Wow I'm kind of shocked by such negative feedback about the game. I thought the buzz was pretty good in general. It's an interesting concept, and it's 100% allowed + credit card accepted in the USA.

Of course a nice $500 freeroll doesn't hurt either

Just like some people can't get their mind around duplicate bridge, so it will be with duplicate poker. Both kinds of bridge are enjoyable to me, so I am going to try this. I am guessing I will have a leg up because of my duplicate bridge experience.

I like the challenge aspect. It's definitely a stretch for my brain but I'll figure it out. Nice break from "normal" cards

Just might be reason it didn't start, if you close the window it will un-register you from the tournament.

I dled it, used like 8$ of their 10 they gave me playing a ring game and a tourney.

I did well in the tourney, owning both of my tables I played at (3 players @ each table) Somehow I still did not come top 3 and lost the $5.

Overall I didnt really understand I just got alot of good hands and played normally.. ahh didnt really understand how the points system worked...
