Can Freerolls Make you rich???

if you think about it nearly every site has a freerolls 1-5 times a day, for example full tilt poker has a $100 freeroll for all members at least 5 times a day, but the fields are so big that it is nearly impossible to win. Thats why they created freerolls for players from UK Aus and Germ ect, in those freerolls it is much easier to get that to bucks and by in to the 10 cent freeroll and you actually have a chance of getting some cash. I for example have made $300 from the Uk freeroll i won the 15 bucks first price and played in 1 dollar buyins and managed to scrape $300 bucks, so really it is possible to make money from freerolls, you never know i could make $10000 in a years time?

if you mean by ONLY playing freerolls? uh basically no, at least not the standard $100-$1000 freerolls that sites generally offer. your equity in each one tends to be somewhere between 10 cents and a dollar (and that'd be a really really good one). the actual "wage" you make by playing them would generally be something like 5-15 cents an hour, i'd guess

but you can certainly build a small starting bankroll with freerolls, take it to real money tables and tournaments and build it into something huge. a lot of players got their start that way

playing freerolls can lead to bad habits in that your inclined to take riks you might not take if you invested your hard earned cash.

it's so easy to play too loose. a good way to stop yourself doing this is to check the numbers left in the tourney and divide this into the prize money.

at the start there might be 1000 runners for $500 so you each have equity of 50c.
at the first break there could be 500 left so equity of $1.
get ITM and maybe 30 left so about $17 equity.

you really should go with the attitude that this is your money and then you might not fritter it away too easily.

well he said that he made the 300$ from using the money he won in freerolls....not just by playing freerolls , so I think he means can you make a lot of money from them if you use the money in the poker room and try to build a bankroll....obviously you could....I mean if he used the 300 and palyed his limits he could build that up , and keep going and going, etc.

blott I like your idea I have always played the freerolls for two reasons one is for the free money obviously but the other is to improve my game. The second is the hard part because improvment does not gaurantee higher finishes in every tournement but you will see the improvment yourself if you are honest with yourself start by paying attention to your flop percentage Ifeel that unless you hit a vry lucky streak you flop saw percentage on average should be 20% or below in Holdem and you will then know you are playing quality hands. Next pay attention to how you bet these hands and your position in the hand. These three things should help your finish position. GL on the felt

Chris ferguson made 100K by starting with nothing and playing freerolls and then using the freeroll money to play in smaller tourneys and then bigger

Full Tilt free's are tough, with only 1% of entries getting paid. I have played up to 4 hrs just to bubble. Made cash 3 times, hardly worth the effort anymore. I will play the CC free's, if I can get in.

Freerolls are a great starting point, and a great way to build up your skills on the cheap - but in the longterm they're probably not such an appealing prospect

Well, if your level of skill in poker is equivalent to your typing ability - yes!

ive won 1 freeroll and placed second twice on full tilt over the last week.

I only won 11 dollars altogether and i lost it all on the low limit tables, i never thought of using it to buy into a tournament.

I usually use freerolls to decide weather or not the site is any good. If i like it i might deposit a small amount of money and try to build a br on it.

Getting Rich on freerolls?

Well, I've wasted my deposit money on sit&go's so now I'm trying to put enough together from the freerolls to get to the cash tables. So far I've cashed enough to be able to play the .10c tourney but am still not enough to play the $1 buy-ins, but alas hope is still there!
Maybe you can over come the 5000+ entries to get to the big money. I did finish 3rd in a $1 buy in to cash $760 a couple of years ago and then wasted it on $5 buy-ins. Did not have an idea about money management but I think I do now. So good luck to those who are at least trying and hope to see one of you at the final table for the big payday!!

freerolls won't make you rich,
but they can be a nice extra income.
eg I cashed 70$ for third place in an freeroll. I cashed them out, cause I didn't want to loose it on that site. (you know, the new one with 6-max tables only)

Blott is right, freerolls do change the way you play... Anyway, you should play tourneys with the winnings, like cheap sats to get into larger tourneys.

I've done pretty well on freerolls. I think the trick is making it to the first break' hopefully by then most of the all-inners will be gone. My next problem is , which is a little harder to control is keeping my husband from losing all my winnings. LOL Just kidding honey. Good Luck All trouble92

freerolls

One cant make a lot of money alone from freerolls but you can generate a bankroll with the money won. For example I won the bodog 1000 free roll(after 7 hours) 222usd. I pulled out 100 to buy my wife a bribery gift. (so I get no grief about all the time I spend online playing poker then I played low sng's and with 1 dollar sportsbook bets I have a 500 bankroll from 120 bucks. and that is after another 100 withdrawal. My goal is to work it up to 1000 and pull out 500 then try to do it over again. Keep this in mind, chris ferguson worked up freeroll earnings into 10,000 buy playing within his bankroll and quitting for the day after wins and percentage of bankroll losses.

That's pretty impressive. But also a pretty darn good reason why you shouldn't bother with the Full Tilt freerolls. They're terrible. Large fields, small prices, few places paid, and they take forever. There are far, FAR better freerolls out there. A lot of sites on the Ongame Network have nice $300 - $500 ones. Boss Network has some very easy and quick ones (just over 2 hours to win), but with smaller prize pools. And the same goes for Pacific Poker. The Full Tilt freerolls are just about the worst value out there...

As a comparison - so far this year I've finished 5th and 17th in the daily Mansion Poker freerolls, and won $40 (30+10). 2000-3000 players, and only 30 get paid (so basically the same structure as Full Tilt). But even 30th place gets $8. So if you do make it ITM, it's actually worth it. (Although it does take almost as long as Full Tilt.)

Can free rolls make you rich? NO.
Can they make your llife a little easier and provide you with some competition and teach you a little? YES.
Freerolls and a great tool for learning the game and they sometimes can provide you with enough to do some other things in life.

i dont think so, but for beginners the right way to build bankroll, without depositing one $ into game they dont understand. so imade it one year ago, i played and learned and i won money sometime and then i put the money in higher tourneys. and so on, now i have a very possible bankroll to play .
al based on freeroll winnings !

If you can't occasionally make it in the money... find a new hobby.

I've won $285 from freerolls so far this year, and about $640 total since I started playing last September.

I usually average around $100 a month, so you can definitely build up a nice bankroll from scratch, and then go from there...

I watched this closely, I am not saying that full tilt is rigged but, Chris Ferguson suffered almost zero bad beats in his historic run to $100k. I would dare say that of all the games I watched him play (100+) that less than 1% of the time he got his money in with the best hand and got it cracked. This run defied all reasonable odds, even AA will lose to 72 off 12% of the time by the numbers. My point to this rant. Yeah he did it, but I don't believe it is very likely that anybody else ever will in that short of a time period. Good Luck in trying .

That's impressive figures, well done, but that must have involved quite a few hours of poker playing...

Well, the further you get in a tournament, the longer you have to play.

But I only play in the evenings and on weekends, really. And those figures are maybe a little skewed, since I got off to a pretty darn good start to the year, and won $50 in the monthly CC freeroll on Titan a couple of days ago, and another $100 at Pacific today. As I said before, usually I manage around $100 a month. Although, with a little experience now, I guess it might be a little more from now on...

He uses a 10 percent system. That is you play tourneys where the buy in is 10% of your bankroll. You can keep up with his gam on FT. He'll start with 0 in a free roll, build it to 10 grand then donate it to charity.
