For all Newbies and those with problems with the Noble Poker Tourney

First let me say I am a new member, and I really enjoy this site and am deeply excited about the freerolls you have put together. I only offer this post to help others who may be experiencing the problem I was, which was not being able to get to today's freeroll.

Like all new members, I will have questions, and the questions are those that will come up over and over again for new users. One of my questions was, "Where do I find the password for today's tourney?" I was able to answer this myself by searching around and I knew that once I posted 15 substantive messages, I would get access to a new Forum that would tell me the password. What I wasn't sure about was where it would be. But the descriptions of "It will be below the forum called "Suggestions Feedback and Announcements" in a Forum called "Cardschat.com Passwords" was pretty clear to me, but not everyone will read this. Perhaps a jpeg of how this screen appears both before and after 15 messages have been contributed might visually allay some newbie fears.

These are very valid Newbie concerns, and you won't escape them. Newbies need a lot of handholding. People today unfortunately have short attention spans, little attention to detail and are used to things being served up to them. As can be seen from the responses to these types of posts, Newbie questions (being heard repeatedly) are annoying to long time members.

Next, once I had access to the Password Forum I wasn't sure where to go to find the password. There were multiple threads, and the only one that seemed to be updating was the one that was Noble Poker Usernames. Even after the password was posted, I had no idea where to go, because i will point out that the thread relating to the password appears from this site's information, not to have changed since 31-01-2005 11:47 AM.

It wasn't until I looked in this thread again, by lack of anything else to do that I saw that this is where the password for today's freeroll was posted. As a newbie perhaps a thread title such as "Look here for the newest password posted 1-3 hours before the freeroll start" would help alleviate some of the newbie anxiety. It would certainly be a direct, correct and to the point statement.

Finally there was a lot of confusion about the tourney showing up on CDPoker's interface even though you couldn't sign up through that interface. As I said in another post, I know the game was there, could see the registrants, and even enter the tables that were playing as an observer once the tourney began, but I could not sign up. I kept getting a bad password error message. So perhaps an explanation that the NP freeroll will show up on CDPoker’s interface, but you have to go to NP to sign up (so make sure you have an account there) would be helpful to the Newbies as well.

I've spent a lot of time putting this message together. I am very happy to have found this site and look forward to continuing to contribute to this forum (as well as playing in the upcoming freerolls). I was certainly playing on CDPoker's ring games waiting for the tourney to start, and its no doubt a good way for the poker sites to get traffic that pays them outside the freerolls.

I hope some Newbies will read this and understand. I hope the site continues to grow and improve, which no doubt it will with such a large membership base.

Thanks for all your efforts. Good Luck

very well said and i can tell you put great effort in this post, i am still somewhat new here but if i can help you in anyway just let me know. I have also used private message to get a question answered a couple of times, if someone is online or not they will get your message and hopefully get back to you as my questions were always answered.

A nice effort on your part assembling this information. As a jaded regular contributor I really doubt anyone will pay attention to it or even read it. Still and all, kudo's to you for trying to help...

Awesome post! I have to say you hit the nail right on the head, as I know I had a few "dumb" questions at the start...you rock.

Fellow Newbie

As a stubborn person that refuses to look at maps, or does not admit to looking at them I appreciate the road map for the Noble free Roll. I hope to join it as soon as I get my posts up. Thanks.

Jenny, please turn off your caps lock. Most folks won't search at all and they clog up the forum asking the same silly questions. At least this person took the time to make one of their initial posts something worth reading which is more than I can say for most...
