| Your Favourite Hold'em Article? It's Saturday, and I have nothing to do. I do have a poker game tonight, and I don't mind learning something new to test out on my poker buddies. So, how about sharing some articles? One of my favourites are Show and Tell by Poker Player Magazine. |

| PP Magazine`s website has lots of good articles, and their site is well worth anybody`s time to explore. The magazine itself is not half bad, either, and more reasonably priced than some. Not sure if it`s available outside the UK, though. |

| Also see CardPlayer mag. I understand, but as of this moment have not visited, their site (Poker News, Poker Tournament Coverage, Freerolls, Poker Magazine. CardPlayer.com) that all their old articles are available. This mag is free in most local casinos. Typically they profile a player as their main story, but then they have a zillion articles on the game. Here in sunny So.Cal, I pick up both Card Player, and Poker Player, free at my local casino, located bicycle distance away. Most interesting snipet from the issue currently in my reading room is a Poker Odds blurb which states; 'The chances of either an Ace or a King appearing on the board by the river are 60 percent.' I think you might be missing some conditions that are given prior to the river. |

| I do NOT know for a fact those are correct odds. It is in the Feb 14, issue, on page 88. Card Player mag. think it through. 5 cards visable, makes ten 2 card possibilties. 1/2,1/3,1/4,1/5,2/3,2/4,2/5,3/4,3/5,4/5 each up card carries a 1/13 chance of being an ace, another 1/13 chance for the king. 2/13 chance at any card. Times 2 for the combo 4/13 chance, times 10 combos, equals 40/13 chances. Its at this point I get lost. If somehow we divide that 40 by 5 we end up with 8 and 8/13 is in the 60% range. If someone with healthy braincells could clarify this,,,,wow! This is probably a great example of not only my lost math skills and critical thinking, but maybe others suffer similiar barnicalized brain cells. |

| Another possibilty. still the 2/13 chances for either an Ace or King at each card. Times 5 cards makes 10/13. THis is higher than 60%. Take into account that it only would be of interest if you were holding an ace or king, and removing one or the other from the available cards, thus lowering the odds of either, and it may approach 60%. |

| re: Your Favourite Hold'em Article? poker The best poker article is the one in each edition of 'Bluff Australasia' about 'Poker in Sydney' But I may be biased... As far as online goes I definitely agree with Poker Pages.com some of the articles are brilliant, in particular some of the earlier ones by Daniel Negreanu. |

That's a very useful website, thanks. I was checking it out earlier and learned a few things. What are your favourite articles from Daniel Negraneau? Or from anyone else for that matter? |

| There are so many good articles and many hours of life can be lost reading through them and thinking about how they specificaly effect you. I found the article on playing for hours and not time to be the most helpful for me. It really changed the way I looked at poker. It makes it much more of a job then a hobby. Its not about winning or losing in any particular session its just about logging in and putting in the hours. The variance will occur, but if you are a winning player the long term results will show that. This helps you avoid 'chasing your tail' when your having a bad day. That is of course if you play as 'work' if playing is a hobby for you then this article is pointless. Do you play for a hobby or what level do you aim to take your game too? What limits do you play at dude? I can hopefully highlight some specifc articles for you with this information and perhaps send some other advice towards you as well. I play poker as my primary source of income (admittedly I am a fish and make most of my money by hitting 2 outers on the winner and being a total luckbox, but hopefully I can offer some advice that isn't useless!!) |

Well at this point, it's just a hobby. But you never know - one day I just might enter the WSOP, and just get in the money I play NL hold'em about $1/$2 at this point. I might play $2/$4 occasionally. And of course, I'm trying to take my game to the next level , no matter what level i am at now. |
