Daniel Negreanu Can't Win
James Bechtel Jr. has greatly benefitted with Daniel Negreanu on his left. Considering Negreanu hasn't looked at his cards, he has been able to take most of Negreanu's rebuys. Negreanu is all-in blind and Bechtel calls. The board reads Q 7 2 3 , and Negreanu sweats his first card, which turns out to be the K . Bechtel then shows A 5 for Ace high. Negreanu turns over his other card and is surprised to see the K . Of course, the river is the A and Negreanu loses another buy in.

Negreanu Can't Win... Part Two
The board is 10-7-5 and Negreanu turns over pocket 5s for a flopped set. He is surprised to have a hand this good but still worried that he can be beat. James Bechtel Jr. shows Q-J and will need a runner runner straight to win. The turn is the 8 which gives Bechtel four outs. Negreanu fully expects the river to beat him and isn't surprised when the 9 hits the felt. To his credit, Negreanu doesn't seem down about his bad luck. He laughs hysterically at his misfortune while knocking over chairs and fumbling for his next rebuy. Bechtel is now up to $30,000 in chips.

The Daniel Negreanu Show
Daniel Negreanu calls an all-in pre-flop (blind) and flips up 5 3 . His opponent has Q-Q. The board comes 9 9 2 6 4 , and Negreanu makes a runner-runner straight to double up to $3,700 in chips.
A few hands later, he gets all-in again with J 2 against A K . The board comes J 4 3 2 8 , and he doubles up to $6,150.
The next hand, he tells a Card Player reporter that since he finally has a noteworthy stack, he has just started to look at his hole cards before acting. On his first such hand, he looks down at A-10, flops trip 10's, and adds $500 to his stack.
On the next hand, he makes his first pre-flop fold of the tournament, nearly two hours into the event. He wants it to be known that he folded suited cards (a very tough laydown).
Later, the cocktail waitress comes by...and Negreanu doesn't have any $1 bills on him. James Bechtel buys him a water.
Negreanu currently has $6,650 in tournament chips.

Wong and Watkinson Go Broke in Same Hand
Steve Wong moves all-in for $900 from middle position before the flop. Lee Watkinson and two other opponents make the call. The flop comes 9 6 3 , and Watkinson moves all-in for another $650. The button calls and turns over Q Q . Watkinson shows 8 7 , and Wong flips over 8 6 . The turn and river bring the 2 and the J , no help, and the player from the button busts both Wong and Watkinson in the same hand. Needless to say, Wong and Watkinson both rebuy, so their tournament life is far from over.

Negreanu Still Gambling
With four to the flop and $1,700 in the pot the flop comes 5 4 3 . The player under the gun checks and Anthony Reategui bets $1,200. Daniel Negreanu who just lost to Reategui's Aces says, "You can't have Aces and Queens every hand can you?" Then Negreanu answers his own question and says, "No you can't," and calls. The next player folds, however the player under the gun raises $2,000 more. Negreanu says he feels like gambling and tells his opponent he has one out. He then calls. The 8 falls on the turn and the player under the gun tries to go all in for $775 but forgets to put his last $50 in. Negreanu doesn't let him and says he doesn't want to put it in if he doesn't get there, and just calls. The river is the 9 and the player under the gun checks and Negreanu not hiding his hand says, "I got there!" and bets $50. His opponent calls and shows 5 5 . Negreanu wasn't lying as he has A 4 . Negreanu syas, "I put him on a set. I didn't care." He has $10,000.

Rousso and the player in mid position call. The flop comes K 93. It's checked to the button who bets $500. Rousso calls and the next player folds. The turn is the 6. Rousso bets $1,500 and the player on the button calls. The river is the 5and Rousso thinks for awhile and puts in $2,000 putting the player on the button all in. He now goes into the tank and asks Rousso if she has two pair. Rousso says there's one way to find out. But then she changes her mind and says, "Actually there's two ways to find out. If you call or if you fold, I'll be nice and show." The player folds showing AK. Rousso smiles and shows 44. Much like the time a couple of nights ago when she bluffed Joe Tehan, she promises to never bluff again. We believe you Vanessa....we believe. Rousso has $7,500.

Grinder Makes Great Call But Loses Pot
From middle position, Michael Mizrachi, raises to $500. The small blind calls and Erick Lingren calls from the big blind. The flop comes K 104, it checks around to The Grinder, who fires out $700. The small blind raises to $1,200, Lingren folds and Mizrachi calls. The 5comes on the turn and the small blind pushes all-in. Mizrachi thinks, and says "Are you on a draw?" Mizrachi calls and shows J10and his opponent flips over QJ, proving to be a great call by The Grinder. The 9comes on the river, though, and his opponent hits his open-ended straight draw.

If poker doesn't work out for Daniel Negreanu, there's always ultimate fighting. During a rare hand today in which Negreanu was taking a break, he was sparring with a female fan of his. She put him in an armbar and was teaching him the technique. The former marine is a member of Negreanu's website. Negreanu showed the move to one of our reporters, but his arm did not break, or even hurt after the move. The former marine said that Kid Poker did not correctly apply the manuever.

The two shake on the deal that Seif will move all-in with any two cards when the action gets to him. Sure enough, Seif looks at his cards and then moves all-in while Rousso makes the call. The board comes A-8-5-2-10, and Mark Seif eliminates two players in the same hand. After the hand, Rousso pays Seif $1,000 and leaves the room, laughing hysterically. After the hand, Seif is up to $42,000 in chips.

Mahaney doesn't have that much, but he does have $13,775 which Negreanu will have to pay Mahaney if he doesn't improve. Negreanu has K7but Mahaney has 77. It's over on the turn as Mahaney fills up when the board pairs (8). Negreanu catches his meaningless flush on the river (10) and bemoans how much K7has cost him today. Kid Poker says he's lost $40,000 today in two pots with that hand. Negreanu is down to $7,500 while Mahaney has $32,000.

The flop spikes both a 3 and a 2 for Antonius and the turn and river bring no help for Rheem, who is severely crippled in the hand. Antonius doubles up to $14,000. (This hand was recounted to a Card Player reporter by Allen Kessler, who is sitting at the same table)
Not too long after, a player in mid-position limps and Antonius raises to $1,200. John Gale calls in late position. The limper also calls and the flop comes K 10 8 . The mid-position player and Antonius both check and John Gale pushes all-in. The mid-position player calls all-in and Antonius also calls, having both players covered. The mid-position player shows A-K, for top pair, top kicker. Antonius flips up K 10 for top two pair and the lead. Gale shows Q 7 for a flush draw and will need to improve. The turn and river bring the 6 and the 5 and Antonius busts both players and rockets his stack to $37,200.

James Van Alstyne receives a 10 minute penalty when he calls a tournament director an "idiot." The disruption arose when a tournament director took issue with a $5,000 chip that Van Alstyne had in his stack. Those chips were not yet supposed to be in play. Van Alstyne claims that he received the chip from a different tournament director yesterday when he had asked to be colored up. Van Alstyne says that the tournament director today dug into the matter without "simply asking" Van Alstyne how he'd gotten it. He says that while the director was doing this, his table was playing shorthanded and went longer than it should have without breaking.
Van Alstyne says that this delay, and the fact that the director did not simply approach him about the issue, are the reasons he called the director an "idiot."
