There are officially at least 8,532 participants, and the word on the street is that there will be up to 500 alternates per day. We will keep you updated as this situation develops. This year there are four individual day ones, each playing down to 800 players by the end of the day. This is the first time the World Series of Poker has implemented such a device to improve efficiency.
