I was playing in the $160 double shootout that awards one seat to the 05' WSOP. I had about 1270 in chips and the blinds were at 25/50. I was on the button with an Ace 6 of diamonds. I raised to 200 making it 150 more for the BB to call. The big blind had 900 left when I raised. He thought for a moment, some guy named Normiesdad or something like that, and then he pushed all in. I thought about it for about 40 seconds letting my timer run down and then I knew I had the best hand. He was on the semi short stack and I knew that any Paint whatever suited was looking good to him. And I called. He turned up a King of clubs and a Queen of spades. He types " GREAT CALL". And the flop comes 2c 3c 9s. Looking good but the turn brings a 6 of clubs. Gives him a shit load of outs. The river.........Ace.........of..........CLUBS!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!! I was truly disgusted. Runner Runner to totally CRIPPLE ME. About 5 hands later I had about 700 in chips and pushed all in on the button with Ace 5 offsuit. I got called by a Jack 10 hearts. Flop comes K Q 5. Turn is an 8. He still has a million outs and hits the openender with the Ace on the river to knock me out. Since I wasted some of my bankroll on the $160 buy in, I decided to play a 5.50 turbo to get entry into another shootout. And I got my ass whooped by a King 10 offsuit with my Ace King of spades. K 10 2 on the flop. Disgusted again. What a horrible poker night. If anyone reads this post/thread or whatever it is called please tell me all of your stories about how you completely failed or how you were successful in MAJOR satellites.

You called him with ace high and moan about bad luck?
You were a 60/40 favourite, can't really moan about them. Sure he runner runnered you but he could also have paired one of his cards. Sometimes the right play is folding the best hand. Still keep chipping away you will win one at some point. |

I feel bad for you though man. I hope you end up doing well in another or something. It sounds like you're either a good poker player or a rich person if you're entering $160 buy-in tournies. Hopefully the good poker player. Zero in on what doesn't work for you and change it. Good luck in any others you buy in to. Jon |

I'll have to agree with JonSHerwood unless you are short on or leader with chips
Pre flop is a great way to beat aces if you raise marginally with them and then see a flop you can still get away from them even though it is the TOUGHEST lay down ever |

I love the responses guys and I agree with you on some terms and I have been playing hold em' for about 12 years and I consider myself an exceptional player and so do my poker buddies and believe me I am not the richest poker player at pokerstars. I turned $50 into around 2k. Im just a poor young man
so I hope that answers your question JohnSherwood. I earned that extra $1950. Thanks for responding fella's. |

When you have the chip advantage not much point in calling an all in without a premium hand. Remember you have the advantage no need to call those bets especially at that blind level. Heads up, to me, you take out "call" in most cases its either raise or fold. Just my opinion anyway.
