| WSOP main event - Phil Ivey Phil Ivey is such a great player who has an increadable read on the game that he can take steps to crushing this game. We all wanna b like him, yet learn how to play like him. But how come this years WSOP main event coverage from ESPN u hardly see much of ivey? If u do see him (for like 1minute) u wont get to see his hole cards when he is makin a move and most of the time so far u've seen so many ppl fold to ivey. He has a such a great pressence! Mayb he has a deal with ESPN that he doesnt want too much of his play to be televised because he doesnt want his strategy leaked? I for one wanna watch him play every hand in a tourney and get a read on this guy. |

| He just wasn't at any of the featured tables, or rather at any of the ones that have aired yet. And actually, I think you're a bit wrong about him not being seen much in main event footage. While they didn't know who would be at the final table when the feature tables played out at the main event, they have included quite a bit of Ivey's play at the outer tables into their footage. That 1 minute you talk about is actually significant time, and they are probably airing all the footage they think is important of him at the outer tables. I'm sure once we get further along the main event footage we'll start to see him at the featured tables and you'll get plenty of Ivey to see. |

| Actually Phil Ivey asked NOT to be included in the feature table on Day 1 of the tourney. It certainly isn't a big deal for him, but the others at his table weren't real happy when he made them find another group for the feature table. In preparation for feature tables, all the players, notably the amateurs who put up their own money in entry fees, are compensated for adorning sponsor's attire. So "the other guys" would have pretty much had their entry fees covered by the extra deals, as well as their five minutes of fame, if it weren't for Ivey's desire to fly under the radar and focus on his game. I'm not sure who we're seeing more of, but it certainly is at the expense of getting a better look at Ivey's game. |

| I'm not the world's biggest Phil Ivey fan, but I do want to see him win the Main Event since he made the November Nine. I'd like to see a big name pro win the Main Event again, and I think it would be good for poker. What has hurt poker in regards to television (that means you WPT) is that larger fields mean it's less likely for pros to make the final table, and since people now have favorite poker players, that's who they want to see. The ratings for Ivey live at the Main Event final table should be much higher than last year's final table, where there was a table full of people that no one gave a damn about. |

| gL Good luck getting a read on Mr Ivey. He's as likely to be making a move with the stonecold nuts ,as he is with a complete bluff. That's what makes the guy such a great player, and so dangerous. You cant put the man on a hand. I also who love to see more footage of the great man though, here here. |

"According to one member of the ESPN camera crew, Phil Ivey's table (table #90 in the orange section) was supposed to be the feature table to start the day. Everyone at the table was not only going to get a chance to play at the feature table with one of the greatest players in the game, but they'd also be lined up to receive about $10,000 in sponsorship money from various companies. Ivey didn't want to be seated at the feature table and he got his wish. Everyone at the table was pretty irritated at this decision. This was all according to the camera crew and we'll have to wait and see if any of the players go after Ivey a little bit more throughout the day." |

| Phil Ivey is good but i wouldn't consider him the best of all time. He reminds me of Lebron James although he is really good he still isn't the best of all time and has a lot to learn and alot more to achieve before he can be in the conversation of the best poker player ever. |

| lol yea, most of the pros say that he is the best. And when the announcers go to his table, they always say he's the best. IMO, he is.. and there will be no doubt if he can get more bracelets than Hellmuth and/or win the ME. |

Seriously, how many interviews do you see with him online or in magazines or on TV? How long are the interviews that do get done? Someone like Hellmuth makes a big song and dance in his entrance to the Main Event. Negreanu and many other players couldn't be happier to get in front of a camera and give their opinion on all sorts of topics. Ivey, on the other hand, sneaks in and out the side door when he comes to play in the WSOP and actively tries to avoid things like getting seated on the feature table. As for the amounts discussed for Joe Nobody to wear a patch for a major poker site... think of it this way. These sites have oodles of money and $10K to patch a player at the feature table isn't that much, considering that said patch will probably get itself on the screen maybe 20+ times over the course of the episode. That's $500 or less the site is paying per exposure. The WSOP Main Event is probably the highest rating poker program worldwide for the year and it's a perfect fit for their target market. And that's before we consider the issue of the major sites losing face if their competitor (or worse, one of the second-string upstart sites) starts getting more exposure than them. So it's a defensive thing as well: if you pay $10K to patch a player, that's one more player in front of the camera that's not wearing your opposition's logo. |

If everyone has their entry fee paid for by sponsorships at the featured table, do they play differently? They would basically be freerolling. I think Ivey realized it would be harder to play his aggressive style against Pros who didn't really have anything left to lose. Ivey doesn't play to make the money. He plays to win the tournament. |

| Ivey I seen some of Ivey's playing televised.I mean it's not really fair when he get's the hands he was getting,AA,KK,JJ,99,AK,Q9(flops trips) don't have to be a pro to play those hands but I tell you being a pro when you get these hands your more likely to be paid since people think your a pro so your trying to make a move on them.Ivey is great no doubt about it and I believe he probably woulda won had Chris Moneymaker not rivered a boat to beat Ivey's trip 9's with all the money going in on the turn.We shall see how it plays out this year.He only has 7 million in chips at FT. |

| I think I know why Phil Ivey doesn't like being featured and I am suprised it hasn't been said in this thread yet. Maybe he doesn't want his style of play being shown. Seeing how he plays, what cards he has, and what he does with them can give others a notorious advantage. And instead of being in it for all of the corporate sponsorships like most people are, Phil is doing it for the love and sake of the game of Poker. |

| A recent episode of the WSOP main event Phil Ivey is at the feature table! WOOHOO!! It was a great episode and u got to see Ivey take half of one guys stack. He raised on the button with 78o. He hits trips on the flop, makes a full house by the turn then makes quads on the river and he doesnt even flinch. OMG he kicks ass. N he goin paid from 22 aswell!! Such a wkd play. But to see a lil bit of Ivey away from the final table has made me happy. We all love Ivey and hope that he takes down this main event!!! Plus i've herd Full Tilt have dangled a $10mil offer infront of him if he wins this ME. Bloody hell. thats $18.5mill and a shiny bracelet!!!! Man im so jealious of him right now lol. |

| The episode which featured Phil Ivey was good to watch but i forgot to put in my last post that it was near the bubble and sum dude folded AKs when Ivey raised in EP or MP w/ 99. Now common who the hell is gonna fold AKs. It's near the bubble so I would of stood up to Ivey showing that im not scared of this bubble and would of raised all-in (to get max vaule while not caring if i bust out b4 the money) or jus called his raise to try catch a A or K. Such bad play folding AKs jus bcos u wanna make it into the money. Another dude folded KK aswell near the money. Whats up with these ppl! I would of been happy to play those cards near the money. If u bust out so what. least ur making the correct play to try take a shot to chip up and make more money instead of leaking in to make just over $10k...Idiots... |
