WSOP is killing me

You know how people love ESPN WSOP coverage. Well watching it has killed me. Seeing the hands people play or the chasers who win. Makes me wanna smack em all lol.

I just saw one guy heads up go all in on an open ended straight draw. That is kinda ok but all in? On a draw? For the Bracelet? The other dude had Q 10 and hit a Q on the flop so he called... and just like any online site he lost on the river lol

Here is something to chew on:

How much do you think having a camera at the table would affect your play? You know if you take in a monster pot you just might get on TV. Do you think that was a consideration that would influence how you play?

I know someone who got to his first table this year and looked up and saw Phil Ivey and a camera crew. Don't you think someone would want a piece of him while the cameras are rolling?

The all-in in that case was the correct move. He put pressure on his opponent, and if he wouldnt have caught top pair, he would have taken the pot down right there. Even if his opponent did call, he was still a HUGE chip leader and left himself a 35% chance of catching the straight anyway. (Either his opponent folds and becomes very, VERY short stacked, or he could easily catch a 3 or a 8 to win the bracelet on one of the 2 remaining cards) Any pro player would have probably made this move or at least agreed with it.

I agree with crippler. It is as much about psychology and chip management in heads up as it is about the cards you have.

I think that his thinking would have been:

70% chance I'll take the pot right here.
30% chance he calls...if he does and I catch my card on the River, he'll be pot committed and I can take down the whole shooting match.

I think it was a good play.

I think it's also important that we understand that what we see on ESPN is the edited for action version. What we don't see are blind stealing, chip management, and the overall playing personality at the tables. They show somebody winning with lousy cards but they don't show the 3 or 4 hours this person played tight to set up the steal. Watched the live tourney on FSN a few weeks ago and it was very interesting to see the entire tourney played including the endless succession of folds...

lol, wait until they show the last 3 tables of the main event, you'll be suicidal then.

I too watched that heads-up hand Lindgren got cornholded! He was up against a maniac newbie (Tran I think was the guy's name) who pulled one out of his arse. Tran simply got on a rush to get where he was. I saw a typical internet poker player playin loose and catchin cards he in no way impressed me by pulling out a draw for a bracelet!

I agree that the cameras can and probably do affect your play, and also i mean he had 8 cards to hit, that would get hi e the braclet, well played i guess.

Yes he went all in on a draw but he really didn't want a call he was bluffing at the pot and trying to take it down. The important thing about bluffing is to leave yourself with outs and he did. Doyle Brunson also makes plays like this if you ever watched him.--- That being said i still wouldn't have made that move either, lol.

I think we should all take a moment and close our eyes. Do it, now. Close your eyes. Picture yourself at the final table of a World Series of Poker event. Picture the bracelet sitting on top of a huge stack of money. You've been playing in this tournament for days now. You've grown fatigue and you're trying to stay focused. You're trying to read the other players and figure out pot odds. The only way this will come to an end is if someone makes a move. You think that the time has come. You must go All in. Will you succeed? Maybe. Glory. Relief. Will you fail? Possibly. Sorrow. Regret. What might have been? You never know. You must take your chances. Taking chances is the key to victory. The bridge between succeeding and failing. Success. Failure. Make of them what you please.
