| Wsop Final Table! The final table has been set for months now and i still dont know any of the 9 players. Personally, i think this move was ok but not if i were a player. What if u get horribly sick, fall into a coma, or worse , What if u die? So my question is what ur opinion on delaying the final table of the main event?? |

| Been discussed ad nauseum in a bunch of other threads: The WSOP main event debacle http://www.cardschat.com/f53/mouth-new-ft-rules-123933/ (http://www.cardschat.com/f53/mouth-new-ft-rules-123933/) WSOP ME Final Table to be delayed... My opinion in a nutshell: This is happening because ESPN wants it to. All other issues, including the effect it has on the play of the final table itself, what if someone gets sick, and so on, are secondary. No ESPN = no poker boom, no huge fields, no huge prize pools and significantly less new fish coming to the game. So keeping ESPN happy is win-win. If you wanna object to the final table delay, you've gotta come up with another solution that keeps ESPN happy. What the players do or don't want really doesn't matter. |

| "What if?" belongs in science fiction and fantasy books. It's great for inventors and artists, scientists and doctors but... What if the schedule didn't change and someone was gravely injured during the break, or dropped dead at the table? The players(At least for another year or two, until the powers that be decide on whether or not to stick with the schedule) should be grateful for a bit of down time. After wading their way through countless amateurs and pros of all stripes, they get a chance to recuperate a bit and really plan for the final table. It affords them the ability to carefully choose an effective game plan based on their stacks and strengths. Normally you just do the best you can, either by the book or by instinct. But this way they can do some homework on their opponents + come up with a really good game plan. It's a chance to think outside the box and work out a strategy in a totally different way. I'm just saying, if it works, it could be more than great. Unusual when compared to other tournaments, but still, beyond awesome. We might get to see a final table playing even better than their usual best, and what a treat that should be. See, that's the thing about "what if?". It works both ways. |

| yeah I think that they need to go ahead and play it with the rest of the tournament. That way the players at the final table can keep their momentum and dont have time to go back and watch videos to study their opponents. It just seems lame to make it to the final table and then you can't play till a couple of weeks pass. |

| re: Wsop Final Table! poker i think the problem i have with it is that if a big name would be among the final 9 we would by now, so watching the weekly episodes knowing certain names are not gonna be there at the end, takes quite a bit of the thrill away.. |

This year, we're watching knowing that all but nine of the players will get eliminated. So you're right, there's no excitement over "ZOMGZ, will Hellmuth win bracelet number 12 in epic fashion" because we all know full well he doesn't. Tiffany Michelle doesn't make the final table either. Oops, was that a spoiler? In previous years, however, we'd be watching it knowing exactly who won. Even less incentive for people to watch. So what you're actually saying is that this year is an improvement. |

And also, as I've pointed out above (pauses to put on best Rock voice): It doesn't matter what "anyone" thinks. All that matters is what ESPN thinks. ESPN want this. They're probably the biggest factor in the huge WSOP tournament fields, huge WSOP prize pools, and the poker boom that resulted in gazillions of new fish coming to the game. Those things are all Good For Poker(TM). ESPN decides that having everyone know three months ahead of time who wins the Main Event is killing their ratings, so they ask for this change. I've said this before and I'll say it again: for anyone who doesn't like the change, for the love of gawd tell us WHAT your alternative is for keeping ESPN happy. If you don't have one, then this debate is over. Seriously. |
