WSOP announces November Nine Will be in Oct this year

The 43rd Annual WSOP will take place from May 27 to July 16, 2012. Full schedule comes at 1 PM ET Wednesday.

What do you think about this??

I like it. I think the November Nine was a good idea in theory, but it did the exact opposite of what was intended. It was supposed to create excitement and anticipation for the final table, but all it did was make people forget about it. I work in a poker room and not many people knew when the final table was, or they lost interest because of the delay.

Indifferent. Didn't watch before. Won't watch now.

I like it better when the winner doesnīt have to wait until November Nine.

But bad it takes place in the summer. To hot in Vegas, nice over here.

I thought the November nine was nothing but an annoyance, not any "anticipation" or crap like that. Because a fair amount of time the players are actually unknown it's boring, because you don't know who they are anyway so wheres the anticipation? If you could have like a select amount of pros on a table I guess it would be but like anything in life, it's the "moment" and by the time November comes around, you have lost interest anyway.

I think it's a good decision to get rid of it. A tournament is all about endurance too, I love 2 day events which only have a few breaks and then the FT hits and that's what makes the winners, ones who can withstand the endurance and mental attitudes. Having several months break to study all you opponents etc just takes away the tournament experience.

Apparently it's staying for at least one more year, but it won't be the November Nine because this year the final table will be played in October:

Something about not wanting to run it same time as the presidential elections apparently.

Stupid marketing ploy with the tweet, tricked me

I really enjoyed how wsop televised this year, live tournament is awesome.

The televised aspect of it was amazing, as well as the web casts of every hand. The waiting months for it to happen was a joke.
All it did was allow the final 9, to make endorsement deals (most of that is gone now since FTP and PS don't do US players) do interviews and get some coaching.

They should delay the final table a week so they can setup all the TV shows, edit the last of the ESPN broadcasts and give the players a 'short' rest before the final table.

It's now October 9, so as to not interfere with the U.S, election and I like the wait.

Meh, the wait always annoyed me. All the build-up from watching and TV, then wait 5/6 months for the final. Can you imagine if football were that way? Also, I've seen it live several times, the earlier rounds not the final, and its kind of inconvienient if you can't easily get to Vegas to have to make repeated trips to watch.

They should change it to the October Ocho!

That's missing the point though - the point of the November Nine was that by the time ESPN finally got around to showing the final table, it was months after it had been played, everybody already knew who won and ratings were suffering. By all accounts, moving it to November so it could be broadcast on only a small delay did improve ratings. And ESPN getting good ratings is Good For Poker.

That said, if they're planning on sticking with the live broadcast format on the basis that it's a ratings winner too then running it in July probably works just as well as November.

November 9 was stupid. The waiting just kill the anticipation. A week delay would've been best.

Actually its oct 9 this year because of the presidential election.I liked it better the old way,play until we have a winner,not spread it out over the summer,and fall.I believe it takes alot of public interest away from the game,instead of making it more enjoyble and profitable.

I'm not sure I understand - if you're not going to leave a big enough gap to show all the other episodes then why even wait at all? Why not just keep playing the very next day?

So from then on after this year, the main event will conclude during the summer? I'm just a bit confused.
