I think someone posted the video here like months ago, its probably about 2-3 pages back. $10K down the hole with Quads, at least he was part of a memorable WSOP moment.

That wasn't a bad beat at all since Phillips had the straight at the turn with the royal flush draw. The full house would of won the hand for Mabuchi, the four of the kind, killed him. It's one of those rare case where the weaker big hand is stronger than the bigger big hand.

wow the odds for that happening has to be sooooooo thin that is ridiculous I can't believe I never saw that lol.

whats the math on both those coming out in same hand you think, poor guy had better odds taking entry fee and buying lotto tickets

Obviously, alittle different situation than what happened at last year's WSOP...but Royal over Quads happens. All our money was in preflop on this one, and of course it was only a freeroll and not a $10K buy in...

Wow, that is a BAD BEAT. What are the odds of that actually happening!? And in the Main Event too. That must be the most disappointing exit ever for the guy. I feel bad for him, even if it was last year. :P

would make a man a little (maybe alot ) pissed but a royal flush is the best possible hand so they didnt have the nutts

If I remember right they said the odds of those exact cards coming out Quad Aces and a Royal flush were 1 in 4 Billion. And that hand just goes to show that slow playing Aces will kill ya here is how the hand went down





Motoyuki "Moto" Mabuchi raises to 850 in middle position and the button calls. The flop is and both check. The turn is and Moto bets 1,600. The button calls. The river is and Moto bets 2,500. The button raises to 8,500 and Moto reraises all in. The button calls. Moto shows for quad aces, but the button has for the royal flush. Moto is eliminated in stunning fashion.



Now the only thing I can see is that Moto makes a bet on the flop because of the flush & straight possibility. If he throws out 2400 on the flop does the Button call for a 3 outer???? I just see so many times that slow playing MONSTER hands will burn you, Doyle Brunson has it in his book "it's better to WIN a small pot than to LOSE a big one"

I heard a rumor a while back that said this was just a great big publicity stunt for the world series in years to come. I don't know that I believe it but they had some pretty good arguments for the position.
Here are a few of the points I remember...
1. Why isnt the entire hand shown instead of just the end result.
2. It was something like "not even Phil Ivey takes that with no emotion like that and his lack of suprise"
3. The crowd response seems a little rehersed and the lack of response by the people at the table
I think there where 5 points but my only argument would be that not every hand on everytable is recorded... right?

That would be so hard knowing your last hand in the WSOP was quad A's.
