Wrist Pain From Playing Too Much Online Poker

I have recently been experiencing some pretty bad wrist pain from playing poker. I usually play 3 hours a day. When I started playing i was just using the laptop touch mouse. When the pain first occurred I switched to using a normal plugin mouse. Does anyone recommend a specific type of ergonomic mouse. This has to be a problem for many players.

Has anyone ever tried one of these vertical mice? Do they actually help?

Never tried one, but just looking at the picture it'd almost definitely help - your wrist is in a much more natural position the whole time.

I've got carparal tunnel from guitar playing. Fortunately the worst of it is in my non-mouse wrist. I still use a regular mouse but I try to take regular breaks and stretch the muscles around the area if I'm playing for any significant period of time. I do most of my betting using the keyboard rather than the mouse too, though I'd probably do that if my wrists were fine anyway.

Try some good old Tylenol.

You really need a pad for underrneath your wrist. Type mouse wrist pad and choose the most highly rated ones.

I'm on my PC at work for a good 8+ hours a day, plus whatever time I play poker. It's definitely important to be comfortable - I like the mouse pad with the wrist rest myself. Generally though when I start having pain, I try to step away for a while if at all possible.

Track balls are great but your wrist is still in the same position, that Vertical mouse looks like the way to go.

As for the Carpel Tunnel their is surgery to correct it.

can you ask your doctor?

They must get similar situations with office workers.

I'm an Athletic Trainer. The suggestions about the vertical mouse and the mouse pads with the wrist rests are good. A mouse with the ball is best because you're not moving your hand even though it is the same position.

This might sound like the nerdiest suggestion but it might seriously help you... wear a simple wrist brace to help support, and ice your wrist after you are done playing. Take Advil or Aleve if you can instead of Tylenol becasue they have anti-inflammatory effects. If it becomes severe you should see a doctor.

Try to take breaks to stretch and move your wrist every 10 mins or so to keep everything lose. Carpal Tunnel like this comes from locking your wrist in position for long periods of time, and is compounded by then moving your fingers ie. clicking or typing.

Its good advice, but the idea of someone having a special poker glove counjers up images of the film 'dodge ball' and Michael Jackson for some reason LOL

It is good advice though.
