Letter bomb Joe G.'s email? Sounds good.

Anthrax!?! any other ideas?

Honestly who hunts down articles in forums and posts them in other forums and claims them for themselves?

In the words of Chris Rock "How DUMB do you got to BE?"

Wow KC that's total BS! Especially if they are profiting off of it. I don't know what you can really do, other than threaten legal action. Or maybe we could find a good hacker to hack their site and replace the article with something funny. Seriously though, you've already posted the article in several places prior to their post so I would think that would prove your ownership, the threat of legal action may be your best recourse. Get 'em Juicee!!!

man, first time I saw this thread. it's utter bs from this joe guy to nick your work, but at least its flattering. Im up for any support/hassle you want KC, against this site/Joe G, whatever, but it seems JuiceeQ is on the case, so I reckon she'll pwn them in no time.
remind me never to get on the wrong side of JQ!
KC, any help you need with this, ie flaming, using his email for porn sites etc, Im up for this, nothing worse than someone nicking your hard work!

As hilarious as it is, probably not the best idea to spam his email. I'm sure KC thanks you all for the sentiment though.

For the record, here is my reply email:

I appreciate your quick response, and was going to reply to give praise to that end.

However, on checking this link again, http://www.royalflushclubmembers.com/public/422.cfm, I see that the article is back up, only worded slightly differently. May I remind you that taking another writer's work, and rewording slightly, is still plagiarism. You may also note that our site (Cardschat.com) is protected by COPYSCAPE, and as such materials from our site should not be duplicated elsewhere.

I would hate to think that you would put your own site's reputation on the line for someone who would blatantly pull a stunt such as this on the backs of other's hardwork. Please remove this article immediately. Failure to do so will force me to contact the Administrator of Cardschat regarding this matter. I hate to be hard-nosed on this issue, but part of my duty as Moderator is protecting Cardschat's rights.

Awaiting your response.

Regards,

Tammy

^^^^ROFLMFAO^^^^

I had recieved the 2 following replies from the site.

What are you talking about? We removed the article from our site within 5 minutes of being notified that he copied the article. Are you still seeing it somewhere? (please send me the URL where you see it, as we believe we've deleted it already)

Rick

OK. Looks like the webserver was caching the page. We had tried deleting the page, but it was apparently still being cached by the webserver.

I think we resolved it by replacing the old page with a new, empty page (apparently the system cached the old page somehow).

Please clear your browser cache and let me know if it's now gone.

Thanks

Rick

And one last E-mail from them.

We've been duped by this guy for several months now. In looking deeper, he'd copied from other sources the prior 2 months newsletters...

Very disappointing, to say the least.

We're a relatively new organization, so this is one of those hard-learned lessons for us.

We'll be using COPYSCAPE in the future to detect this kind of thing before it can happen, so in a sense, this event has actually helped us to avoid future problems.

I'm in contact with the author of the original author. I think we've resolve the matter (now that our webserver's cache has been cleared).

G'day.

Rick

I for one am very impressed with the way this was handled by Rick Braddy. Below is his response to my last email:

Tammy,

I believe we've scrubbed this copied stuff out of our site now (I found several other copied articles by Joe - absolutely disgusting)

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for handling it in such a professional manner. We run a clean site and don't put up with this kind of stuff.

This has actually helped us, in a way. We'll now use COPYSCAPE on our newsletter content BEFORE we ever send it out in the future, so this kind of stuff can't sneak past us. We're a relatively young organization (having just launched in February), so I guess these are just normal growing pains... (but painful nevertheless).

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused ya'll.

Rick

The page no longer displays the article, and I am confident that he will be a little more careful in the future about checking out people's sources (especially after dealing with all of us ). All in all, I'm pleased with how this has turned out.

...so people pay to read advice, but the authors don't get paid. Why wouldn't those people just come to CardsChat in the first place? Rick may have handled it well, but good luck attracting people to that site.

KC is a very young and quite inteligent young man. I have read many of his posts and his knowledge of he game and stratagies is very laudable in someone of his age. I=Or anyones for that matter. It is reallyvery distressing for me to hear that that an article of this quality has been plagerized and the credit taken from such a brilliant and loyal member. KC, I just hope that this incident does not influence some thing s that you may do in the future, or prevent you from doing them. IMO I think tht you should do EVERYTHING that is possible to reak total havoc on that site and the person who STOLE your article. Not just for revenge, but, so that you know within yourself that everything possible was done to make things as right as legally and morally possible. I just don't like the thought that this might affect some of your decisions and actions in the future, whatever they may be. GO GET EM KID!!!

Issue Resolved - Apologies

Hi,

My name is Rick Braddy, President/CEO of Royal Flush Club.

We first became aware of the copied article this Sunday morning (what a way to wake up!)

Anyway, I think we have this resolved now. I did delete the original article from our content management system, but apparently the webserver still had the page cached. It took a little experimenting and time, but we were able to finally resolve it by posting an empty page, which overwrote the cached page (so it was simply a technical issue that delayed the page's permanent removal from our site).

As you might expect, we were very disappointed to find that one of our trusted, founding members had blatantly copied an article from this site.
Upon further inspection, we discovered several other copied articles from this same "author" (all of which have been removed from our site).

I was very impressed with the professional manner in which this matter was handled by CardsChat and its membership.

Again, apologies for our mistake. We will be implementing some new content review procedures to (hopefully) prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future.

With best regards,

Rick Braddy

I look at it this way......I really don't need to do anything to that site or talk bad about them since obv CC is better since our articles have to be stolen, plus our members are so defensive when, an article, which they have not even written is taking, since everything at CC is everybody's, we don't have to pay for it(except for the buy-ins ) So basicaly they will never be as good as CC, even though you have to pay there.
