“Stuey, you and I are the only players in this joint,” cracked Hellmuth loud enough for the rest of the players and the omnipresent ESPN camera crews to catch. “Maybe I’ll see you at the final table in a couple of days.”
Ungar was coming off of a win – his first since the 1997 Main Event – and was brimming with confidence. He fired back. “If you’re at the final table Phil, I’ll shave my head. Ya know what? I’ll let you shave it. You can even get these camera people to film it,” joked Ungar, keeping his voice at the same octave as Hellmuth’s. “But when I make it I get to shave your head. You might wanna keep that hat of yours around, something tells me you’re not any better looking as a bald guy.”
