Would you sell your seat to......... WSOP, The question came up when I made the second round of both Poker stars and Full tilt. I didn't advance in either of them but I dreamed what I would do if I did. They both offered 12k package. Money that would be better served put in my household account and increasing my BR. I figure if I made it once then I could do it again or win the money to buy in on the lesser buy in events there. Its my dream/goal to at least play in one event in the WSOP. I just wondering what would you do if you won that seat.

re: Would you sell your seat to......... poker Right now my game is no where near strong enough to play a large MTT like the WSOP so I would take the cash pay some bills and have a nice BR to play off. Im sure if i was meant to be at the WSOP id get there again. :P

It`s only £6,000 ? TBH, it is nothing more than a decent holiday with the wife and kids to the Hard Rock in Orlando!!! An option, I think, would be to find a pro that you could sell your ticket to for say 1/2 price, and have an agreement set up that whatever he wins over his entry fee you split with him - just a thought.

I think this is very good advice. Satellites would be the way I would enter unless I had the said sponsoring or I had a bankroll in the many millions. |

re: Would you sell your seat to......... poker I took an early retirement so I could concentrate on things like poker etc. I have the money to enter in the Main but it is such a crap shoot that its like taking a bunch of guys with a lot of money and throwing it up in the air and hope it lands at your feet. I mean Jerry Yang??? I would rather play in a smaller WSOP and a whole bunch of satellites and play in the Sunday big $ tournaments on PS. You get in good on one of those and you can afford the Main. Besides the main event is just too long to stay focused. Last year I did win a satellite at the Rio and entered one of the NLHE tournament. Inside of 30 minutes I busted out when my A/9 became two pairs but I was met with a set of deuces. I came up to the room and all my wife could say was "what happened!!" as she was getting ready to go shopping with the money I was supposed to win.

could you still get cash if you win a seat from the Million Dollar Giveaway? |

Prior to the '07 series, poker sites would give seats as prizes, and it was use it or lose it. The organizers specifically banned the practice last year and forced the sites to award the buy-in/travel expenses as cash, leaving the decision up to the individual. That's why the number of entrants dropped last year for the first time since the Moneymaker/Rounders generation of poker players were born. Hypothetically, I'd say take the money, cash out & see how you do in local casino tourneys for a year. If you've managed to grow your br, try a satellite in Vegas, otherwise, it wasn't meant to be.

re: Would you sell your seat to......... poker At the end of the day, it all comes down to BR management. If you had 3 or 4 hundred as a bankroll and then won a 12.5k package, your bankroll is now 12.9k. is it wise to risk 95% eg, for an mtt? I know in that position I wouldn't, cash in the bank or a walk in the dark?

I'd take the money at this point. My goal is to play the WSOP ME at least once in my life, just for the experience, but you know going into the tournament that it's possible you could play one hand and be done (anyone see that Farha clip? AT vs. TT on an AAT flop, one guy went home first hand). I was nervous when I decided to play in a 200nl game and had $200 at the table, I couldn't imagine if 10k was on the line. If I play it'll either be later in life when I have a good amount of money or else I'll have gotten in by a satellite, my friend's dad's actually playing in a $300 tourney where I'm not sure if it itself is a satellite or it's a satellite to a satellite, but they've taken money out of the prize pool so that if he does well enough he's got a shot at getting into the ME with just the $300 buy-in. Assuming I'm still successful playing poker and I've built a decent roll, I'm thinking I may play the $1500 one when I'm 21. But 2 years is a long way off at this point .

I'm glad that my thinking was reinforced by similar answers. Bank roll management rule would for bid putting me putting my whole bankroll on the line. Lesser events 1500.00 buyin would be more prudent. But as far as my level of play right now that wouldn't be wise in my current poker level. I've taken down or ITM some of the 1-3 dollar range MTT's. I would love to be able to triple that buyin range. Thank you for all the great posts on this "bankroll question"

I would def take the $ and re-invest it somewhere else, the WSOP main event has absolutely NO appeal to me for many reasons...just one is I know I DON'T want to play poker for a minimum of 12 hrs per day everyday for 5 or 6 days in a row if I were to even get LUCKY enough to last that long. The chance of even reaching the $ is under 10% from what I understand...and I think playing poker continuously for that long a period is something the majority of ppl just cannot do. The physical and mental strain day after day is a very tough challenge that I feel alot of ppl don't really consider when they register. Thats why you see so many decent players SNAP at crucial times and bust out. Gimme the cake and I'll eat it the way I want to! But GL to all who decide to play...

There are a lot of ways to make money playing poker online. Winning a WSOP seat does not seem to me to be the most efficient way to win $12,500. If I'm going to climb a ladder to that kind of money, I'd rather climb levels in the NL ring games or SNGs. When I earn my $12,500 that way, I still have the option of buying a seat if I choose to do so. If, on the other hand, I decide to buy in at round one, work my way up, and win a seat, I have won more than $12,500. I've won the bragging rights that go along with that accomplishment. If I do that, you bet I'll be playing at the WSOP.
