http://www.google.com/search?aq=0&oq...oll+management I play SnGs and go by a 20 buyin rule, if I don't have enough for 20 buyins at a $ level I drop down. I am willing to drop down so I don't mind only 20 buyins (usually only playing between $1-$5). I think for cash games its generally 40-100 full buyins.

No 1 rule for me is like "Whats is your number 1 rule for avoiding road accidents?" Barring not driving, there are a number of "No 1s" as in poker. Many already mentioned here, it is also situational. Are you tired on a certain day? Are you playing more than one game? Is your game leaking in a certain area that you are aware of? The best was to find out your no 1 rule is to play and see what rule will strengthen your game the most NOW, and change that rule as it needs. Maybe the no 1 rule is "Dont pay attention to just 1 rule"

re: would like to know poker My #1 rule is don't play online poker. Every time I follow it I save myself some money. My #2 and #3 rules would probably be "Get good cards." And "Bluff when they'll fold." in no particular order. But I really do try to follow my #1 rule.

Since online poker does not require the level of skills that live poker do, my number one rule is also to manage my bankroll effectively, like NC_Royals mentioned. Then comes mastering the game very well, as well as applying bluffing skills effectively.
