worst reads ( ie most humiliating calls )

I was fresh off 3 straight SnG wins in a row & was feeling super confident so I entered a $5 no rebuy NL 1000 person tourny. The 1st 30 or so hands were all-in fests with hands such as A,7 8,8 k,J etc etc. I'm BB & havent even seen a flop yet ( I have 1450 or so chips ) the SB is chip leader & has 10,000+ chips & has been bullying the table almost every hand. By some miracle nobody raises pre flop & I get a free look at the flop ( I'm delt A,6 ) the flop comes A,K,4. Everyone checks around to me ( omg my Ace is good, I'm thinking ) so I bet 1/2 the pot & everyone drops till it gets to the SB ( Mr. Big Stack ) & he raises me 700 ( half my stack ). I seriously would of been $1000.00 real dollars on him having K, junk or less. I was so confident I had him beat I almost said "not this time buddy" Thank god I didnt cause I re-raised him all-in, he calls immediately & flips over A,K. I left the table with my tail between my legs, what a bad read & humiliating experience. Poker has a funny way of humbling you when you start to get cocky.

anyways I'm bored at work & thought I would share my humiliating with you all.

It wasn't really a bad read. Mr. Big Stack just slowplayed A,K which a good poker player NEVER does. It seems Mr. Big Stack knows little about playng poker.

re

I dunno if it was stupid or ingenious, he had a huge chip lead & blinds were very low, if he pushed pre flop he'd get everyone out & not win much relative to his stack. I think he limped in & hoped to catch something on the flop & then push knowing that his table image would induce callers thinking he was bluffing. It worked like a charm. When he flipped over A,K I literally couldnt believe it lol, I've never been so suprised.

This has me thinking literally every big hand I've lost lately has come from me getting a free hand via being in the big blind, catching something nice & getting blasted with it. I was on a streak of 5 in the money SnG's in a row & I got blasted out in 8th place when I was BB & had A,4 ( a hand I rarely play ) everyone limped to me so I checked & the flop came A,A,6. I bet & got called to the river & reraised & ended up all in, losing to A,10.

well when that type of thing happens it's hard to put your opponent on a hand
like that last example, it would be hard to put your opponent on a bigger ace, as he really should have raised PF
