The worst beat I have taken in my young poker career.
I decided to play Midnight Madness last night on full tilt. I was having some success and wanted to play a larger tourney. I usually don't play the $10+ buy ins, but decided to.
2nd hand of the tourney, I was on the BB. 4 limpers and I check with A 4 offsuit. Flop is A A 4. I have a monster. I didn't want to scare everybody away with an all in, so I bet 200 chips of my 1470 stack. I got a raise from 3rd position to 600 chips. Everyone else folded and I went all in. He turned over A 8 and I thought I had just place myself in a good position to start this tourney. The turn came: 8 Sick. So did I do anything wrong or is this just a bad beat that happens? Should I have gone all in with my first bet? I think he would have called anyway. I think this is just a frustrating beat, so I won't take it too hard. If anyone has advice on how to play this better please post. Thanks, Dday |

Nothing you could do about it. I dont think you would've folded this hand on the turn or the river (unless you had a monster read). You were bound to get you money in no matter what and you were going to lose the hand no matter what.
Yeah it sucks being sucked out on, but it happens. |

re: The worst beat I have taken in my young poker career.
Definitely nothing. I flopped trips yesterday only to be put all-in by a pair of aces who re-raised my raise. Ace hits turn. Ace hits river. Granted, it was pokerstars and not a $10 buy-in tourney, but you'll see a lot worse happen to you if you keep playing poker. It's just a fact you'll have to deal with. No matter how far a head you are or think you are sometimes, there is that slight chance you'll be robbed! Better luck next time I guess.
