Ok, the day before the NY Giants shocked the world in the super bowl, my wife and I went to a Casino in Shreveport/Bosier because our regular Saturday night
poker game was cancelled. She hadn't played holdem for higher stakes than $20 buy ins so she decided to go play the one armed bandits, I on the other hand am not nearly as wise as she (God, I hope she never reads this) LOL. I took $200 and went to the Poker room. I had played there before, but only in the 4/8 limit games. Now, I was ready to play with the big dogs, well as big as my buget will allow, anyway I go to the 1/2 No Limit table and buy in with my $200. So, to get a feel for the table, I play super tight. I drag a few pots, never on a bluff, but never a remarkable hand either. Well after about an hour to maybe an hour and a half, I am up to probably near $300. Well I am in the BB and after everyone has gotten their cards, I peak at mine to find AA, now I dont give it away, cause, honestly I have a really deceptive poker face, not that I dont have tales, but deceptive, just the same. The player in UTG position, calls the $2 BB, the next three players fold, then, this guy raises to $15 and the rest fold to me. From there, I raised to $60 in hopes to get heads up, although, 3 way, when holding rockets isn't a horrible thing. Well to my suprise, the UTG and original raiser, both call. Ok, now let me back up a moment and tell you, in this particular casino, they have what they call, a bad beat jackpot, and it was up to $29,000, nice chunk of change. In order to be considered a qualifying bad beat, Aces full of tens or better must be beaten, trick is, both hole cards of both players must be used. With that said, to the flop Ah Qc Jd , I am stoked, but wanna end it now, so I push All in, confident nobody stayed with K 10 pre flop on two raises. I had both players covered, and wanted them to know I had it, forget poker face, I didn't want anyone fishing, Both called. The player in UTG had Qh Js, or two pair, and trailing horribly, the next guy wasn't as quick of a call, but he said, "I have to call", he turned over KK. He either needed a ten or running kings, I would loved the ladder, screw the pot, give me my cut of the Jackpot. With it all laid out, and nearly a thousand dollars in the pot, we were set for the turn card....8d.......sigh of relief, now the river...............10c, no no no no, talk about hallow feeling, the pot was shoved to him, with exception to $39 in chips, which I had him covered by. I sat there, for 20 more minutes, never played another hand. I was sick. and that was my lowest poker moment.
