Worried with quad K's?

Yup, I was for a minute.

I was on the button with K's, and the MP minraises preflop. (.05/.10 game).

I raise to 1.20, and he calls.

Flop comes KAK.

I'm thinking gawd, I hope he has A's and I checked (which I later thought the boys on CC are going to be mad ........ I should have bet. What can he have other than A's if he's going to call anything, and if he does have A's I really need to bet).

He bet's $ 1.20 and I call. (again, probably a raise here, but I get these really good hands and I just don't know the right thing to do to extract as much as possible).

You know what comes on the turn ....... yup, another A.

I'm thinking this can't be happening, can it? Could I possibly be looking at losing with quad K's?

The pot is about $4 and change, and I bet $3.80. He folds.

Should I have bet more? Would you figure there was no way he had A's with the preflop minraise?

(oh, I just bought in with a $10 stack, and his stack was about $20 before this hand)

Sometimes these premium hands can be more frustrating than satisfying. I get into it and just don't know how to play them.

Quad Kings = no fear. Don't worry about it. Your raise preflop was good and he probably was hoping you were bluffing a contbet on the flop. Then he was going to float and see what you do on the turn.

The Ace turn is usually a good card here. You can never fear quads without three on board. Atleast you got a flop bet out of him because you weren't getting anymore in this situation. Must have had counterfeited pocket pair, gutshot or nothing at all. Only debate is what to do on the flop, turn is fine, you're only getting called by an ace expecting a chop.

Get outta my head! lmao!!

I had the same, exact hand in a 1-2 pot limit ring game last year. 2 callers after the flop. Only in my case the nightmare came true. I'm just not strong enough to lay down quads! Lost my stack on one hand.

If you have quads and don't win the hand, and do NOT win the pot, you had better lose your whole stack (again so long as not trips on the board). With quads your only goal is to get your whole stack in the middle without trying scare anyone off (again minus trip board or 4 to str8 flush, etc).

I think you had reason to fear....BUT.....in a situation like this I would take the chance. I would have raised less on the turn tho, try to maximize the pot....and if he does have you....what are the odds....in my opinion you have to try and make as much as possible....betting high on the turn would mean you'd only get called if he has a great chance of beating you....so bet lower and risk less, and yet maximize the pot if he is chasing or has lesser hand.

you were just thinking the worst... with quad kings, you pretty much have to go the distance. i have yet to come across anyone who would lay that down, maybe negreanu. even still i feel like he would call even if he suspected it, just on principle

So you think you're beat (for some reason) and you bet? Nice bluff with quads =)

JK, check raise or check call turn if you took that line on the flop, if he has an A it's gonna end up all in the middle NO MATTER WHAT, and at least this way you can extract money from some bluff. In the astronomic possibility he has AA ask him for some % of the pot to pay for the bad beat jackpot.

If by chance the player did have quad aces then you would have been very unlucky and that is all you can say. The odds are so against that.

If you have Quad Ks and he has Quad As (with no trips on board) ... pay him off. Get all your cash in the middle.

It might happen to you once... But it will be a profitable play over time.

now in this situation aren't you hoping that HE DOES have quad aces. Wouldn't that qualify you for the BAD BEAT JACKPOT? If not I still wouldn't worry if you lose with quad kings you haven't played badly, you've just been unlucky. IF there isn't 3 aces on the board or a four draw to a straight flush, you should push as much as you can.
