World Tavern Poker?

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone played in a World Tavern Poker Tour event? I'm going to try one this Saturday and wanted to know if anyone had experience in one. This will be my first time playing live with people I don't know. I've read poker books, but I'm still kind of nervous. Any tips? Thanks!

play the way that makes you comfertable and when the game gets tight make changes to your game BUT stay cool headed Kool bro

Don't worry about looking stupid. Looking stupid makes you appear to be a weak player, and assuming you're not a weak player, this is exactly what you want. If anything, go out of your way to look stupid!

Oh, and live tells are overrated. Nobody is going to ba able to 'see into your soul' as long as you're reasonably aware of the signals you're giving out. Don't place too much credence in any 'tells' on others you pick up on either, unless they're very strong and repeated, just play your cards against your opponents ranges and playing tendencies as per usual.

My experience with the World Tavern Poker Tour was not a good one. I went each week to the local bar to qualify for their regional final (which I did). When the regional final came, I saw people who I knew had not qualified for it, get into it. It left a sour taste in my mouth and I've never played in one of their events ever again.

I played in that for a while. The problem with that is the employees at the bars run it so there were many times players got to play in the regionals who only played maybe two or three times, ever! The bar eventually go rid of the league and I moved on to anothe rleague which is run BY the league so it's more organized.
