Winning Craps Strategy?

Is this strategy positive or negative ev? Lets say we use 5 dollar bets.

• Wait for the point to be set
• Place one bet on the field
• Place 2 bets on the 5,6, and 8

So right now we have 35 dollars on the table and if any number besides a 7 gets rolled then we get paid. The 6 and 8 bets pay 6 to 5, The 5 bet pays 3 to 2, and the field bet pays 1 to 1.

If we do this for 36 rolls then in theory we will turn a 60 dollar profit I think. Someone please check my work because surely I did something wrong here right?

10 of these 36 times we will win with a 6 or an 8 and we will win 12 dollars but lose the 5 dollar field bet turning a 7 dollar profit x ten = $70.

4 of these 36 times we will win with a 5 and we will win 15 dollars but lose the 5 dollar field bet turning a 10 dollar profit x four = $40.

16 of these 36 times we will win with a 2,3,4,9,10,11,12 an we will win 10 dollars turning a 10 dollar profit x 16 = $160.

6 of these 36 times we will lose all 35 dollars by rolling a 7 for a total loss of $210.

So 70+40+160-210 = 60

Is this right?

How many field bets do you make in 36 rolls? $5X36=$180. I think this is where you go wrong in your math Remember, in casino games each bet is -ev. No matter where you spread your $$$ it'll still be-ev. Nice try tho

No. Let's go ahead and assume that for sake of arguement, over 36 attempts you will actually see the exact long term distribution of events. Every round you are putting $35 on the table and getting paid on any one event (hitting the 5, 6, 8, or field bet). So your profit on each event needs to include all the other losses which you aren't accounting for:

If the 5 hits, then yes you win $12 on that bet. You also lose $10 on the 6 bet, $10 on the 8 bet, and $5 on the field bet. +12-10-10-5=-$13/event x 4 occurrences = $-52 overall

If the 6 hits, then yes you win $12 on that bet. You also lose $10 on the 5 bet, $10 on the 8 bet, and $5 on the field bet. +12-10-10-5=-$13/event x 5 occurrences = $-65 overall

If the 8 hits, then yes you win $12 on that bet. You also lose $10 on the 6 bet, $10 on the 6 bet, and $5 on the field bet. +12-10-10-5=-$13/event x 5 occurrences = $-65 overall

If the field bet hits, then yes you win $5 on that bet. You also lose $10 on the 6 bet, $10 on the 6 bet, and $10 on the 8 bet, +5-10-10-10=-$25/event x 16 occurrences = $-400 overall

No bets hits and you lose $35/event x 6 occurrences = -$210 overall

So overall = -210 + -400 + -65 + -65 + -52 = -$792 overall
